0.8.1 Release Candidate testing

Issues with the tolerance tab sliders seem to be of many kinds, popping up in essentially all things to do with the new tab. MP stuff is one of these things.
That’s why RC’s are for testing, they’re not the final versions. Many improvements are to be seen in the days to come…

One issue Ive encountered is an extinction cascade, where if you go extinct in one zone, then resume playing from a different patch, since your tolerances are different you quickly die again until you burn through all the available patches super quickly.

Right. That’s probably an another tolerance feature area in need of some balancing.

Yeah, it’s possible that patches are generated so low that the pressure is way too high for the slider. I’m going to try to adjust things so that the slider max value would never be reached.

That’s an interesting point that I didn’t realize would be an effect. Is it really so bad though? The tolerances only debuff you at most 10% osmoregulation and 10% processing speed. So unless your species is close to dying with less than 20% margin then it should be fine.

To all the other tolerances feedback I’ve said I’ll fix it this week, but for this I’m not sure I can. So I’ve opened an issue:

Do you think 0.8.1.1 will be a thing with all these reports on tolerance tab coming in or not?

I don’t think so because the reports are before the actual release so I’m basically going to spend all of this week in fixing various things related to the tolerances.

The only real issue I think definitely won’t be fixed in time for 0.8.1 is this one:

Understandable, especially as this is a bug from outside the “real” game.

I’ve been busy this week trying to fix as many problems with the environmental effects as possible so I just now got around to replying to this. I’ll add some safety checks so that hopefully that shouldn’t be able to happen in the 0.8.1 release.
