Hmmm… I have a MOTHER series inspired FG cooking in my brain. If you have not played a game in the MOTHER series, go check the series out! Download a rom for one of the games, put it in an emulator, and you are now good to play. I recommend starting with Earthbound or Mother 3. Mother 1 will give you a random encounter every, like, 5 steps.

Shouldn’t one start where it all began to have no “surprises” in the later games?

For some reason… the later games forget the existence of Mother 1. Mother 3 does not ignore Earthbound, though…

Yeah, not really. America is just called… America in M1, but in EB it’s called… Eagleland? Also, America does not exist in any form in M3.

Is M1 the hardest of the triplet?

I don’t know how long M1 or M3 takes to beat… Also M3 has no official english version, so you are gonna have to download the fan-translated rom if you don’t speak Japanese.

I can presume M3 being only in one language is tied to the decline of the series…

Yeah, M2 flopped in the US because of the fart and stink advertising… Literally, one of the ads says “Because This Game Stinks.”
