Console Wars

Will there be a corruption statistic of sorts?

Do you mean a statistic on how many bribes there are in the company? Like the political definition of corrupt?

Yeah, like political corruption.

Okay. I geuss that can be added… It can generally effect the quality of your games.

I meant it should be added for the companies of this FG.

Yeah, if a company has high corruption, worse games will be made.

Will there be more reputation-based company mechanics?

Well, people’s expectations of your consoles will certainly lower sales… For example, if people expect a console to be bad, they won’t buy it. This can come from a. people reviewing the console badly, b. releasing a bunch of junk in the years preceding the console, or c. both.

How will advertising stuff work?

You advertise for a certain time, for example, 3 months before a console release to 3 months after the console release, and spend a certain amount of money on the campaign. The longer it lasts and the more money spent, the larger the sales boost, generally.

Will this be tied to luck?

Slightly. The advertising time and spending will effect your luck, but reviews of the console will also effect it.

What about interference by those within a company that is not related to corruption? Like how Dinosaur Planet got turned into Star Fox Adventures?

Well, games can randomly change from their starting view…

What happens when we reach the end of the tech tree as we see it now?

Huh, I never accounted for that… Buy a year takes 4 turns, and the average FG only has 40 turns to last, so there’s a good chance we won’t get there.

Also, consoles take 2 years to develop, 1 for the concepts, 1 for the manufacturing. During the concept period, you can still change the console, but during the manufacturing period, you can’t.
