@Flagella I’ve noticed on your website for the versions of Edapt that alpha 2.7 is a few days late, and as someone who is interested in the game you’re making I’m wondering when it will come out. I want to say it’s ok if you’re taking a break from development of Edapt, It is just that I want to see more Edapt come out.
Idk maybe they’ve just forgot to update the website as it wouldn’t have been as engrained in their mind as the game, considering the former is only like a week old and the later is 3 months old
I just hope this project does not cause unnecessarily long term mental strain/pressure on Flagella.
I mean so far they don’t seem to have been forcing themselves hard to work on the project, right?
I looked at this a little bit. It is too early to tell how it will turn out but fan projects like this are always exciting for me. I hope you have your fun at making this.
I wonder what sort of large deviations from mainline Thrive will be added here in the future…
@Flagella quick question what are you using to make Edapt?
They are using Pygame and Python for that
The reason the next update is taking so long is because some unforeseen problems showed up and now I have to fix them, and it involves restructuring the entire code. I updated the website to when I think the next update will come out.
You still use the same language and engine or was that also changed with this restructuring?
It is still the same engine and language, and I don’t plan on changing it unless absolutely necessary.
I presume there won’t be more such delays unless something unexpected happens for a while?
I understand, take as much time as you need to resolve the issues you have encountered.
Better to have a functional game in the long run than to have a broken game
I wonder if there were any useful “unintended features” from those bugs?
I am not sure they’d be worth a broken structure
Not this time, but I remember one time adding inertia but there was not enough friction at all, so it was like an ice rink. Another time I did something and everything left behind a trail. Both of those could be cool visual settings though…
Would the restructuring require those to be recoded in?
I removed them so I would have to re code them in. It probably wouldn’t take very long, especially after June 12.
Do you plan to first finish up the microbe stage completely first or make some prototypes for the later stages at some point during it’s development?
