Attempted Mutations: Centrioles, Microtubules (both of these are to keep the cell together and structured)
Description: At the macroscopic level, Chomavestis portokali appears to be a orange mat hovering a few millimeters over the seafloor. At the microscopic level, they are thermosynthesizing organisms that consume substrate and debris, and can consume attacking cells. They are immune to most biotoxins, sense temperature, and can turn sulphur into fructose and iron into ATP. The individual cells can communicate by releasing certain chemicals around them, which are picked by connecting cillia.

idk. i said that you could create an offshoot of your species to have two different species that fill two wildly different niches so why wouldnāt you have a shapeshifting colonial organism or something similar
