its coming out after version 1.0.0

if every month a new update comes out then that will take five years

Better learn programming then to help make the game faster.
Or join the patreon to hopefully maybe have dedicated employees work on the game.

They are discussed a ton, where have you been? Reduction in osmoregulation, protein storage, specialization, backup system from fully dying, etc.

Why would different cells give you more of that? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Is later multicellular than the very beginning.

Links? If they aren’t on the dev forum, they don’t count.

Well first of all it is logical that more cell(s) equals more space for storage. Secondly, you asked for benefits of multicellular, not really benefits of early multicellular. Also I’m sorry, I thought you meant discussion in general, not just discussion on the developer forums.

What about plantoid beings? My current cell I’m working with shares some similarities with both plants and animals but has a silicate cell wall. I was hoping to evolve this into a mixotrophic radially symmetrical mashup of plant echinoderm and polychaete. So basically I’m asking if a motile plant like thing might reach sapience here?

I don’t have a link on hand, but a concession was made that you could technically be a plant that is sentient, just by having some chloroplasts in your cells. But the chloroplasts would be quite useless, because a useful amount of chloroplasts weights so much that you can’t move (almost) at all. So even in that case there is a lot of evolutionary pressure to just dump the chloroplasts that don’t help much in terms of your overall energy needs but take resources to make.

Could a colony theoretically have a specialised cell filled with Toxins to be send into a predator colony to kill it from the inside.

Good question…

A layered 3D creator? So my idea is there is a drop down menu at the side where you can select parts/organs or create a new part/organ and you can change what each organ/part does and the properties of the part/organ, and you edit the shape and size of each organ/part, then you can change the color of your creature. When you are done, you will get a fully fleshed creature which can sustain it’s self if it has enough food.

That’s… already planned to be in the game
Multicellular will be both 2d and 3d

I guess you don’t understand me, I know that is how it is going to work, I’m talking about how your (3D, just to clarify) creature will be built and the editor design.
Edit: When I say layering I mean like you select which parts you see and which you don’t, like layering (if that is what it is called) in photoshop

That has been widely expected as an idea already and will probably be used

Wait how would one create a neural cell would there be a organelle for multicellular specialized cells or something?

keep in mind that thrive is a big project, and that we’re still in microbe stage, so not everything is fleshed out yet

We haven’t quite gotten to that problem yet. It’s definitely going to be some manner of specialized cell that’s going to be used for your organism’s neural cells. However; We haven’t discussed just how exactly we are going to determine what is or isn’t a neuron. Will it be some organelle? Will it be a designation applied to it via the player? For now only time will tell, since that is getting into aware stage territory which is fairly far off.

Would be interesting if the multicellular stage had a similar editor to the cell stage, but instead of placing organelles and cytoplasm, you’d be placing specialized/differentiated cells with different functions, then once the game transitions to a 3d perspective, the editor makes essentially a 3d rotation of your 2d multicellular organism

The first part of your post is exactly the plan we have. The second part is not planned so far. Instead the game moves to sculpting with tissues in 3D.

Oh, that sounds even better. Excited!
