By that “universe” in this scenario you mean that universe simulation thing you can “mod”?

for the easy route, yes, but if you want a challenge, make yourself into the seed of a hivemind that computes with light and tachyons, and communicates via literally any means of truly instant communication, and send spores made specifically to be capable of handling big bang conditions, surviving in any environment, being able to thrive with 0 energy input from outside, communicating across universes, and self-replication, into a new universe.
make yourself be a God that is All of Life, and exists throughout All of Time, and put your central brain into an empty universe, with a portal which you can feed it mass and energy through.

yeah, but if exotic matter exists, it should be made of tachyons(and thus should probaly be called tachyonic matter), as they are both matter with negative mass, and negative mass must always travel over the speed of light, for the same reason that positive mass must always travel under the speed of light, and why anything without mass must travel _at_ the speed of light
going over the hill without changing the mass would require infinite energy.
and the reason that tachyons would go backwards through time(and time backwards through them) is that your speed through space plus your speed through time must always equal the speed of light

personally, the main reason i’m looking into going to it is to get rid of this stupid intercontinental distances thing that’s separating me, maddy, and lina, but for the research, i’m more interested in doing the experimental research with the college, so i can get money and resources to do it with, the theoretical research with people who i know don’t just dismiss any idea that sounds like creating energy from nothing(though i do know how you could make smth that’s basically a battery that can put out way more energy than you put in to make it, it’s literally just a strong [electret](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electret)), and the practical research with the same funds as the experimental research, but out in the open, where i have to put up with the conditions the tech will be useful in

that’s like saying that if internal combustion engines are so much better than horses, that we would’ve used them before we started using horses.
or at least as soon as the necessary tech to make them was possible
and electrical engineers, and most people who work with thermodynamics, tend to operate on the principal of “there is no free lunch”

I am pretty sure electromagnets have been around for a while now, unlike the parts, processes and knowledge needed to make combustion engines in relation to the times before horse domestication.
Also, again, infinite energy violates laws that dictate how our universe is like.

not electromagnets.
electrets.
electrets were only discovered in the 1970s, and are currently extremely weak, but quasi-permanent, and generate a completely static electrical field
the biggest reason they haven’t started replacing batteries is likely that current electrets can only generate a few milivolts.
and at a very low amperage as well.

they accelerate electrons, and a conductive electret would do so via a proton gradient that pulls electrons from the negatively charged side to the positively charged side, while modern electrets use dielectric materials, which are insulators that can be electrically polarized.
the best way to make a strong electret would be to make a unidirectional conductor(like a stranded wire with insulation between all the strands) and dope it before it’s solidified to produce an electron or proton gradient, to accelerate the electrons, and then solidify the fluid around the wires, to trap the PH gradient in place.
said fluid must be an electrical insulator when solid, but be able to dissolve electrolytes when liquid.

depends.
what’s the amperage of your input wire, and the thickness of the electret relative to it?
and you need to consider the amount of energy it takes to maintain the electrical current until the electret is solid as well, to measure the energy you can get out against.

no idea.
i’d need to test the properties of a conductive electret first.

Severe burnout is inevitable for an immortal being, again, you are just thinking in terms of a finite experience instead of an infinite one.

> [@willow](#):
>
> literally just find a hobby, and few people you can handle being around forever.

That works for a finite timescale, not an infinite one.

No, a countable infinity is infinite, what you are describing is a finite number that is very big. Regardless, the size of it doesn’t matter because an immortal lives for an infinite timescale.

> [@willow](#):
>
> if you can’t find something you are incapable of getting bored of. that is a _you_ problem. not a _universal_ problem.

There is no such thing, for anyone, you only think so because people don’t live forever for it to happen about everything that they do.

What we do know is that people get bored of things if they do them too much, and that some things can be done more than others before causing boredom, there is nothing to suggest that something can be done forever without causing boredom.

> perhaps start doing weird stuff with your body that it doesn’t look like it should be able to do, to see how they react

> well, good luck keeping your body mobile if that happens for any period of time over 3 months.

> get bored because your mind isn’t active enough, or because you’re not able to do enough at a time?
> make all of your body cells have their own brains, and give yourself total control over their movements, and their gene expression.

I’m not denying that there is a large amount of things you can do, what I’m saying is that in an infinite timescale, you will do them all until you get bored of them, and once you will have gotten bored of everything, regardless of the time it takes for that to happen, you will still have an infinite amount of time to live.

You just want to live for a very long time, not be immortal, the arguments you make show this, as you have put little thought to the actual infinity of immortality.

We can’t go on with this argument forever, not only because we aren’t immortal, but also because we would get bored before the 10th reply (It is already getting repetitive). You can reply if you want, but I will not reply back.
