Mates won't release their gametes

Sorry I’m not very tech savvy and am unsure how to get my game logs

Once I got to 13 cells in my multicellular organism, my mates started refusing to release their gametes so I can reproduce

I have requested gamete release multiple times, and literally surrounded the mates with my gametes, but they just refuse to release one of their own

I will happily provide anymore information I am able to muster.

Thanks for the stellar game

Hello, chrrmin. To get the game logs, hit the β€œ||” pause button with your mouse cursor, or press Space Bar. This will take you to the Pause Menu. Click the Settings button, go on the last Settings Tab (farthest right), and then scroll down to see a button to open logs. It will open a File Explorer (or equivalent if on a Mac), which should show the most recent game output folder.

Welcome to the forum @chrrmin ! The current multicellular organisms may have some issues with letting go of their gametes so you could try and get a small distance away to get the mate organism getting back to going your way as intended. Also they can release gametes without needing to command them to do so.

Ah, that is why even after signaling to release gametes, it took a while for me to reach the editor using Anisogamy.

It can also be of use to find a new mate if the old one refuses to do anything

The signal to release gametes causes the other members of your species that are nearby enough to first turn to face you and only then release the gametes. This is because them shooting off in the opposite direction wouldn’t be very useful.

So maybe the species members cannot manage to turn? And that prevents it.

I have an idea about making it so that species members would release gametes anyway after 10 seconds even if they don’t manage to turn as a potential fix to this type of problem.

I recall sometimes they don’t shoot even if they managed to turn, maybe they were still regenerating their gamete capacity?

The release command actually β€œcheats” by just making the other cells release gametes even if they weren’t ready (but were fully grown).

Can the release gamete command be easily overwritten by a different stimulus from the game environment to prompt the mate to abandon the release? Maybe that’s why chrrmin’s mate didn’t want to release any?

Well someone can use the debug features entity labels to see if another player species member sends a signal or not.

Edit: I made an AI behaviour tweak and increased gamete sensor range to try to address this, though I’m not fully sure this will help in this specific case but I was thinking of making these changes mostly already:
