My random godot projects

This game might need to be renamed to waiting simulator because of how much waiting there is. Once you get both gates you never even need to open them again, and you get nothing from killing the cubes so why should you?

Is the thing where red cubes can ride eachother to get faster to you intentional?

Well the only times I ever had to go outside was to get the outdoor light, which is also completely useless. I got all the upgrades, so now imma do another playthrough to get recordings and screenshots. The full feedback is coming soon!

I feel like after getting generator and mid walls you have no reason to go outside anymore

No, it is a bug, but i like it, as its basically a strategy the evil cubes have to catch you faster.

I am planning on adding more outdoors upgrades, such as the electrical gate.

I am also planning on adding another currency, which will be “Cubes”, and the only way to get them is by killing the evil cubes. YOURSELF. These will be then used to buy more weapons for the player, and even used to research new technologies in the future.

After sword what weapon will we be able to buy?

It still does not beat the hook trick and void trick though!

Nice.

Still does not solve the original issue, and the greens still don’t give you anything for their killings!

What weapons and technologies?

What is the hook trick?

They protect you, thats enough!

Like guns, rocket launchers, and technologies will be like researching upgrades for green cubes and other things

Will there eventually be actual loss (of coins for instance) added for dying?

No, as the early game would be literally impossible, but there will be a 40% Cubes loss on death when it gets added.

Will one be able to eventually turn the evil cube spawn point into essentially a mob grinder?

@Flagella, does this new game count as competition towards Edapt?

No, as it is not an evolution game. It could spur up something else though…

So you’d also be moving on to different projects?

Feedback Time!

@Mr.Pukilar
Sorry it took so long, I had to make some videos!

Positive Feedback

  1. The lighting is great
  2. The music is great
  3. The strategy in the early game is great
  4. The overall premise is great

Negative Feedback

  1. There are NO MENUS AT ALL! Please add at least a main menu.
  2. There is no way to pause the game. What if I need to get a snack or something? The game needs to be able to be paused somehow, whether it’s a menu or a hotkey.
  3. There is a lot of glitches with the cubes. Greens can hit Reds through the walls, Reds can stack on top of each other, and they are way faster than you said they would be.
  4. Why do I need a sword to hurt the Reds but the Greens don’t?
  5. The Reds instakill you from the side, but not from the top or bottom. Pick one.
  6. There are not enough types of cubes.
  7. There is no real progression with any cubes, besides getting more Greens over time.
  8. There is no reason to kill the cubes. Why do I even need to open the gates at all in the late game when I could just be collecting coins passively over time by doing nothing? You should make Reds drop 10-20 coins when killed so that they are worth being killed, although probably lock it behind a purchase.
  9. Why can I enter the void sometimes and not die?
  10. Death means nothing. While this is fine for the early game, once you have enough coins with you you should probably be losing some when you die.
  11. The late game is a waiting simulator.
  12. The map is just a flat plane of existence. Add terrain, maybe a world border or something?
  13. The sword is very unreliable. It also looks kinda sus…
  14. There’s nothing to do while waiting for more coins. Add activities or make killing stuff worth my time.
  15. There is no settings menu. What if I want to mute something, or change the style of movement, or whatever else might be in there?
  16. Movement is kinda weird for me. Perhaps add more movement styles that you could change in a settings menu?
  17. There should be windows on the building. Why would I ever open the door without knowing if there are Reds outside or not?
  18. A lot of the upgrades, such as the roof and the outside light, are practically useless right now.
  19. There should be a way to save the game and come back later without losing progress. I already have to spend 30 minutes on this to complete it, and if the game is going to take more than an hour to complete (which it probably will) I might not have the time to complete the whole thing in one sitting.

Overall I think that this has a lot of potential, and I am very exited to see where this goes!

I mean you could close the doors once you get there and be safe like that

Pukilar said it is a feature now

notice they get damaged when fighting without weapons

But what if you don’t have doors yet?

I still don’t really like it.

And the player still gets damaged regardless of whether they have a weapon or not.

It doesn’t take too long to get to them

You can avoid it if you damage them through a wall with the sword

Currently it takes about 50% of the game to get to them.

And Reds and Greens can also damage each other through walls.
