A few new species have been discovered, especially in the deep. There is an Allostoma ripleyii with a protective cuticle and hood over the spines, a Bedella ocona without tentacles and that can bud, a Masticephalus bathyus with longer cirri, a Maurcolus whealetus that can resist the toxins of Farynxoskulus and has more, better eggs and Gorgonia magnapolypa and Chonifiltrus bathyus that can survive at greater depths that they already do.
In the southern temperate ocean, Fralegend has discovered his first species; Myopsceras stipula: an Atkinsoma primus that is larger, can retract it’s eyestalks and has eyelids.

You hatch out into very warm, clear water under daylight. You find a rock on the riverbed to hide under until it becomes dark when you poke out again. On either side of you is a rocky bank - to the front and back is the river. You are on the muddy riverbed. Floating along the river are animals with a blue, tubular body with lines of cilia along it and a jelly-like bell at the front end. There are tentacles around the mouth which exist on the centre of the upper face of the bell [Masticephalus recentibus]. Down below are animals with a tan bivalve shell with cirri protruding through the opening [Compcylindricus sous]. You can see downriver an animal with a strong, pill bug-like exoskeleton shaded sandy above and white below that ends in a double fan tail. It has a head with mandibles and two pairs of eyes (camera in front of compound) as well as a pair of clawed chelipeds followed by four pairs of legs with large paddles and then five swimmerets [Diplopygus pugilus]. It is moving weakly but it is huge in comparison to you [this animal has been dropped into territory it is not able to survive long in but in which it is an unknown by the tsunami]. (2 + 1)

It is pitch black and cold in this water. The scent of an Ahyponomus minor [worm] hits your antennae as well as the scent of brine. You walk off across the seafloor in this direction. The scents get stronger. Suddenly, you lose your footing and fall downwards as the seafloor dips; you are in the briny water and have to make you way out. You manage to turn around and face up and struggle upwards. Kicking your legs and boosting with your hyponome, you manage to break free and back into tolerable water. The effort has exhausted you. You can still sense the brine behind you. The scents of the Ahyponomus minor and a Pulchellia chartus [tube anemone] reach your antennae from in front. From above come the scents of many Masticephalus bathyus [cilliated, tebtacled, filter-feeder]. (2)

The scent and sights of some food reaches you through the clear, very warm water above the tropical reef but before you can hunt the urge to moult overcomes you - you have no choice but to lay still as you shed your exoskeleton, revealing your weaker, softer, pinker new one. You are still at the edge of the reef and attached to a few crevices are several yellow, funnel-shaped sponges [Xanthospongus aureus]. Peaking out of another crevice is an animal with a conical shell around the body up to the head, a beak, camera eyes on stalks and tentacles with suckers and threads [Stenoceras eduoardi]. Nearby, walking across the sand, is an animal that has a woodlouse-like, green exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles and a pair of clawed chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - stalked camera in front of compound - and four pairs of paddle-lined legs [Caulops viridus]. Near to that, in a pit, is an animal with a woodlouse-like, blue exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles, two stingers on thin appendages and a pair of clawed chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - camera in front of compound - and three pairs of paddle-lined legs. Not including the chelipeds, it has four pairs of normal legs, one to a segment, that have a large paddle on the outer side. When swimming, these are folded in to give the effect of a continuous lobe halfway along the body. Behind that is five pairs of biramous, paddle-lined swimmerets, one to a segment. The rear of the body has two fan tail lobes and below that a hyponome. Males in the mating season have a series of blue stripes on their limbs, unique to the species.

Laying in a pit you have just dug in the seabed of the very warm, clear water, you stop as much movement as you can, sitting still in the pit without your lure out. The water level starts lowering, making it’s way down the seabed until the water is getting too low for you. You have no choice but to move a little, further away from the sea level and closer to the wall of the reef. This means you expend a little energy and are not able to rest properly - you remain exhausted. Nearby, walking across the sand, is an animal that has a woodlouse-like, green exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles and a pair of clawed chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - stalked camera in front of compound - and four pairs of paddle-lined legs [Caulops viridus]. In front of you is a wall of a reef and attached to a few crevices are several yellow, funnel-shaped sponges [Xanthospongus aureus]. A predatory ambush hunter that lures prey in with a lure that resembles algae, Haleglossus name lives throughout the tropical ocean, Olympia, Delphi, Aeaea and Tartarus. In the opposite vein to it’s predecessor it produces more eggs than many other species on the planet; it can produce 10,000 eggs each spawning when they gather at mating sites in Early Spring. However, it seems to have lost the part of it’s brain that allows for spatial awareness. It lives alongside another Haleglossus species on Tartarus; it has more fatalities due to being smelt easier by predators but produces more young to counter this.

Using your hyponome, you scoot towards it and grab it in your tentacles before pushing it into your beak, easily munching up it’s soft body. Some time later, you have grown a bit and find yourself in an area in which you are on a sandbar, looking over the surrounding area. Above you are many cylindrical, transparent animals with cillia followed by a worm-like animal with a beak [Ctenella primus] [Ostrorhynchus strictus]. Deeper than the sandbar is a patch of algae on which is feeding an animal that has a woodlouse-like, exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles and a pair of clawed chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - stalked camera in front of compound - and four pairs of paddle-lined legs. (3 + 1)

Some time later, you have grown a bit and find yourself in an area in which you are above a sandbar. Around you are many animals with a tubular body with lines of cilia along it and a jelly-like bell at the front end. There are tentacles around the mouth which exist on the centre of the upper face of the bell [Masticephalus lepusensis]. These are joined by a worm-like animal with a beak, grasping spines around it and a fantail [Ovodeinus cordus]. Below, on the seafloor is an animal scouring across the seabed. It has a conical shell around the body up to the head, camera eyes on stalks and tentacles with suckers and threads [Myopsceras stipula, Fralegend]. Suddenly, the seabed shakes, a few cracks appear in it and bubbles stream forth. (4 + 1)

This crinoid-like species has evolved to have it’s ganglia at the base of each arm rather than a central ganglia, meaning that each arm has greater reflexes and ability but that coordination of the animal as a whole is slightly worse as a result. Essentially, it’s brains are now in it’s arms. Mollibarmis is a filter-feeder. The chemoreceptors of Mollibarmis are located on the tube feet, unlike it’s predecessors and can smell over vast distances - 100 metres, to be precise. The strangest adaptation of the animal is that has a stomach that it could evert onto it’s chosen target and start to turn digest it externally and form it into a soup, which is then pulled back into the body with it’s stomach. This means it could eat food bigger than it’s mouth, and with the stronger acids could even eat food that has begun to rot. However, as a filter-feeder it cannot use this.

Along the body are four membranes with lines of cilia on them. On the ventral side of the body is a pinhole eye. At the bottom is a root-like holdfast.

In the middle of the north part of the Uteenessa Ocean, a volcano has erupted, hot water bursting forth above the glowing, flashing magma that flows along the seabed. Ash and rock are thrown about the water. Many sea creatures are eviscerated as a result.

A North-East Tartarus River
Slowly, the animal with a strong, pill bug-like exoskeleton shaded sandy above and white below that ends in a double fan tail swims along the clear, very warm water over the pebbly riverbed. It has a head with mandibles and two pairs of eyes (camera in front of compound) as well as a pair of clawed chelipeds followed by four pairs of legs with large paddles and then five swimmerets [Diplopygus pugilus]. You are heading in it’s direction too as you are carried along in the current. It’s much bigger size means it moves faster than you can catch up with. Finally, when the river has gone dark and is only lit by the moon, the Diplopygus seems to have stopped moving. You cling on to it’s hard exoskeleton as you pass on the current and are able to hold on; it makes no move to throw you off as you do this. There are gaps between it’s armour plating with flesh that you can rip off with your claws and then pass into your mandibles to eat, which is what you do. A lot of time passes after that in which you grow into a juvenile by feeding, avoiding predation and moulting successfully. The water here is very warm, brackish and murky. In one direction, your antennae can sense saltwater and in the other is freshwater. It is nighttime and there is barely enough light for you to see but you can perceive the muddy seabed on which there is an animal with a woodlouse-like exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles and a pair of clawed, bristly chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - camera in front of compound - and four pairs of paddle-lined legs [Gempliaori osakai]. The Gempliaori is mindlessly strolling along, filtering. Other animals whose scents are reaching your antennae through the murky water are Compcylindricus sous [bivalves] and a Pultrypa reponectus [predatory arthropod with powerful claws and legs that can form into lobes]. External Features: An exoskeleton with nine segments covers the the skin, which contains blue carotenoid pigments. There are two antennae protruding forwards in front of the mouth and it has chemoreceptors, odour receptors and touch receptors on it. A sharp rostrum also protrudes forwards. Two chelipeds with claws are held at the front of the bod, followed by steering arms, and there are four pairs of legs. The rear of the body has an exoskeleton fantail and below that a hyponome.

A system of muscles stretches across the body. Near the lower wall can be found the gonads as well as the protonephridium. Through the mostly lower half runs the monogastric digestive system, from the mouth through the tubes to the stomach and intestines. You descend through the blue, clear, very warm water to the surface of the tropical reef, and move between the rocks and the yellow, funnel-shaped sponges [Xanthospongus aureus]. When you pass one corner, you are grabbed by tentacles and try to fight against your capture - but you are too tired. There is nothing you can do as the tentacles pull you into a hard beak which crunches you up into dead pieces. (1 = You have not thrived. You will be reborn, as your species goes on.)

Around the mouth are a few chemoreceptors. On either side of the head is a camera eye with calcite lens that changes shape and has no blind spot and a typical apposition compound eye, which both contain blue and green cone cells. Not including the chelipeds, it has four pairs of normal legs, one to a segment, that have a large paddle on the outer side. When swimming, these are folded in to give the effect of a continuous lobe halfway along the body. Behind that is five pairs of biramous, paddle-lined swimmerets, one to a segment. The rear of the body has two fan tail lobes and below that a hyponome. Males in the mating season have a series of blue stripes on their limbs, unique to the species.

Laying in a pit you have just dug in the seabed of the very warm, clear water, you stop as much movement as you can, sitting still in the pit without your lure out. The water level starts lowering, making it’s way down the seabed until the water is getting too low for you. You have no choice but to move a little, further away from the sea level and closer to the wall of the reef. This means you expend a little energy and are not able to rest properly - you remain exhausted. Nearby, walking across the sand, is an animal that has a woodlouse-like, green exoskeleton that ends in a fantail. It is armed with mandibles and a pair of clawed chelipeds plus is equipped with two pairs of eyes - stalked camera in front of compound - and four pairs of paddle-lined legs [Caulops viridus]. In front of you is a wall of a reef and attached to a few crevices are several yellow, funnel-shaped sponges [Xanthospongus aureus]. Peaking out of another crevice is an animal with a conical shell around the body up to the head, a beak, camera eyes on stalks and tentacles with suckers and threads [Stenoceras eduoardi]. (3)

A predatory ambush hunter that lures prey in with a lure that resembles algae, Haleglossus name lives throughout the tropical ocean, Olympia, Delphi, Aeaea and Tartarus. In the opposite vein to it’s predecessor it produces more eggs than many other species on the planet; it can produce 10,000 eggs each spawning when they gather at mating sites in Early Spring. However, it seems to have lost the part of it’s brain that allows for spatial awareness. It lives alongside another Haleglossus species on Tartarus; it has more fatalities due to being smelt easier by predators but produces more young to counter this.

Above you in the cool, quite murky water are many cylindrical, transparent animals with cillia [Ctenella primus]. One of them is edging closer and closer to the seabed. You reach out with your tentacles and pull the small creature into your beak, which quickly mashes it up and you eat it. However, it is so small compared to you that you actually lose more energy hunting it than you gain from eating it. You are exhausted. You are in an area in which you are on a sandbar, looking over the surrounding area. Above you are many cylindrical, transparent animals with cillia followed by a worm-like animal with a beak [Ctenella primus] [Ostrorhynchus strictus]. Deeper than the sandbar is a patch of algae on which is feeding an animal with a black, fish-shaped body. It has square teeth, upwards-facing eyes, pectoral fins and semi-circular caudal fins at the base of the tail [Organia praecus]. (3 + 1)

This is secreted by the mantle, which is a layer on the skin. The skin contains red melanin pigmentation in scales. A pair of camera eyes that focus by moving the lens but have a blind spot, sit on stalks through holes in the shell. At the back of the shell is a hyponome, capable of swivelling.
Internal Features: Each cell contains lysozymes and piezolytes. The hyponome pumps water into the mantle cavity, which contains the six pairs of gills and the phragmocone with a wide siphuncle. The body has a circuit of blood vessels pumped by a dorsal vessel which pass the gills and saccate metanephridium, containing anti-freeze threitol sugar alcohol. It has gonads in the lower part of the body and muscles across the body. There is a stomach attached to the coiled intestine. From the ganglia in the head is a single, ventral nerve cord with nerves running off.
