Although more potent than carbon dioxide, methane dissipates quicker and the results of the oceanic burp has already died down. However, tectonic activity carries on, causing the volcanoes at mid-ocean ridges to pump megatonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The temperature is rising rapidly. It has increased by another degree, reaching 28c, and shows no signs of stopping. Around the planet, climates are changing for the hotter and often wetter.
As the planetās oceans warm up, the severity and frequency of dangerous weather increases. A hurricane forming over some tropical shallows is one of these, as the winds above the water begin to build up, stirring up the sea, and the clouds start rotating.
The volcano in Olympia violently explodes out the weakest point, sending out a shockwave of noise for miles around. The magma chamber collapses. A plume of ash reaches into the sky and hot rocks shower the surrounding landscape. Ash then settles on the surrounding area and in the water, causing a choking hazard. The column of ash later collapses into a pyroclastic flow, composed of hot rocks and volcanic gas which flows downhill 200mph and boils alive anything caught in it. It travels many kilometres and when it meets water, a pyroclastic flow will boil along it on a bed of steam. Eventually, the eruption subsides.

You hatch out into hot, brackish and murky water. A Dinocaroides hatchling is also in the water nearby and you attack it, crawling through the thick, viscous water. You grab it in your claws, which slice through the body of the Dinocaroides, killing it. You then feast on your catch. Several months pass during which you survive, eating, moulting and avoiding predation successfully. You are in the main channel of an estuary, with the tide moving higher, raising the water level. You can see the carcass of a fish being carried clumsily by the tide and several Salcaedis and Dinocaroides are swimming in its direction. The water remains, hot, brackish and murky. (6)

This movement distracts the Cerceps for long enough that you can escape upwards into the soft corals. You hide in one, exhausted from the chase. The Cerceps looks for you around the outcrop but before it finds you it becomes dark. You are hiding in the branches of a soft coral in a rocky outcrop. You sense electrically the presence of a Stegopus nearby on the outcrop. Outside in the complete darkness, an Anazitonta can be smelt. (3 + 1)

Info: This relatively slow-going proto-fish mainly sticks near to the seafloor because this is where itās food is located. Unlike its hunting relatives, itās too slow to be able to hunt enough nutrient-rich food and instead feeds on soft corals. The reason for its lack of speed is the strange scales covering its tail from tip to base; it is composed of heavy but brittle scales that provide no protection but restrict movement of the critical tail. However, it has better stamina because of a two-chambered heart and better eyesight with an actual true eye (composed of a aqueous humor supporting a cornea and lens bending light to the retina) that helps it pick out the soft corals.

It bites into one of the smaller ones, which tries to attack back but canāt because it is trapped in the jaws of the other one. Blood clouds the water and you flee in fright. Eventually, you have swum far enough away that you feel safe. You left the carnage behind, followed by only one member of the shoal that has been with you for a long time now. You are exhausted. You are now over a narrow continental shelf, which rises rapidly into a cliff. In the other direction, a steep cliff - the drop-off - descends into gloominess. Across the shelf of sand there are many rocky outcrops, on which corals and soft sponges can be seen. You can blurrily see Anazitonta hovering around the outcrops as well as Stegopus. Cerceps are patrolling the shelf. You can sense your one remaining shoal mate right next to you. The water is fairly murky, warm and getting steadily warmer.(2)

External Features: The soft skin of the cylindrical body is covered in yellow structural colouration. The mouth has a siphon that extends from it and on the end are eight cirri with chemoreceptors. On one side of the body is a pinhole eye, on the other an eyespot. An umbrella-shaped lobe , made of four parts that can fold in, surrounds the head and four membranous lobes running down the body have cillia on them.

In the other direction, a steep cliff - the drop-off - descends into gloominess. Across the shelf of sand there are many rocky outcrops, on which corals and soft sponges can be seen. You start trying to stab at it with your stingers but it bounces off the exoskeleton. Another of your legs is lost in the scuffle until you land a lucky shot and pierce one of its eyes with a stinger. The attacking Carcharobrachia retreats but not far as you can still see it hovering in the water nearby, turning back around to face you. You are already exhausted from the fight. You can see the shallows in the distance but below is empty freshwater, descending into gloom. You spot an Icthyotelus swimming through this gloom. It hits the muddy estuary floor and you quickly move to it, crawling through thick, viscous water, and begin feeding. After this event, you survive for another few months, successfully finding food, avoiding predation and moulting during this time. You are in a main estuary channel; you cannot see the edges of this larger body of water given the murkiness, only the stretch of mud making up the riverbed. Here, you see several Icthyotelus filtering through the water column. The water appears to be getting shallower and the tide is moving outwards. You can sense the chemicals from the more saline sea and a small group of Salcaedis but there is also the scent of a Mandibulidon. (6 + 1 = Ding, ding, ding! Congrats, you have won a bonus point! The nearest bit of water is the estuary channel you just left where you can just about see the Dinocaroides. Rain drizzles constantly and oxygen depletes. (2)

Info: This relatively slow-going proto-fish mainly sticks near to the seafloor because this is where itās food is located. Unlike its hunting relatives, itās too slow to be able to hunt enough nutrient-rich food and instead feeds on soft corals. The reason for its lack of speed is the strange scales covering its tail from tip to base; it is composed of heavy but brittle scales that provide no protection but restrict movement of the critical tail. However, it has better stamina because of a two-chambered heart and better eyesight with an actual true eye (composed of a aqueous humor supporting a cornea and lens bending light to the retina) that helps it pick out the soft corals.

Another few Skylos occupy the water too. Thereās a splash and then a Mandibulidon appears in the water, heading straight for you. You try to flee but at your small size the water is thick and viscous. The Mandibulidon bursts up to you and you turn to attack it. You scratch out with one of your claws but it does not penetrate the Mandibulidonās exoskeleton. It grabs your claw-bearing leg in its mandibles and bites; the claw comes clean off. (1)
