I have an idea for their ships, but I don’t know if them wearing suits filled with water is better than just having a ship filled with water.

Sorry for replying so late, but I had an idea that this aquatic species would have oceans of sulphuric water. I’ve currently been taking inspiration from the movie Abyss and a book.
Water-filled spaceships would be very heavy and thus much more difficult to get off of the planet
In early space travel they would need suits of water of course but what about with space elevators when you are building ships in space. Would ships filled with water be any good, I’m leaning towards no for military ships but civilian ships I see that being the go to.
I’m all alone.

So this unnamed aquatic species, with no phsyical form yet as of now, live on a planet that was mostly covered by oceans until very late in its history.
These intelligent ceatures quickly moved from the sea to the emerging volcanoes. There, they discovered the use of fire, electricity, and nuclear fusion, and made fast advances in technology. At some point after that, become a spacefaring extraterrestrial race of aquatic beings.
Do they still need water to not die?
