I see, I mean it doesn’t sound that hard to add so maybe when we get there we’ll see, but I’m not the best at coding so what do I know.
The reason it’s not confirmed to be coming is because it is said such a mode would be very boring for the players and take a long time to accomplish anything. And you wouldn’t be able to complete the game since the ascension gate is a scifi tech too.
that’s fair, makes sense all and all honestly.
Also, would there be such balancing to cohesion so that for instance if you started with more when you entered the phase after which it becomes a resource it will drain faster while if it was smaller when you reached that point it would decrease slower?
I don’t think that’s how the balancing should go, but simply having it decrease faster/ harder to get the bigger your society gets and/or the faster you advance as in too fast, thus making have to spend resources to balance it or deal with the consequences if you think it’s worth it, but it’ll just replace evolution in the later stages, since societies won’t really change biologically, this’ll do (almost replacing the atp even?)
So cohesion would be the most important thing to keep track of then?
I mean that is what it basically is historically and I don’t see much of a reason an alien species would have it any other way, so honestly? yeah.
Should it be known as just “cohesion” or should a different name be given to the statistic?
Unity/cohesion is the safe option I suppose, but using the term asabiyyah would make it more “science-y” if you will.
Would you just lose the game if you lost all cohesion in society+?
No, I don’t think that would be an accurate representation. A better way to do it would be to lose multiple of the “patch” equivalent (presumably cities and such) to represent in-fighting. But the punishment could be adapted in accordance with the mold of the gameplay.
I see. I suppose propaganda for instance would increase cohesion in some part of the populace while other parts lose cohesion and other countries weaken ties with yours?
Propaganda would increase cohesion if it’s war propaganda for example, while worsening ties with other societies. It might decrease it (if it’s purpose is to do so) as well but I don’t think the player would want to do that, maybe they want to get rid of a part of their society for some reason but that’s so out there.
If propaganda is being done in collaboration with other nations, then would each’s ties with eachother be boosted?
Unless the propaganda within each nation was directed to vilify one particular group of people or a nation behind the other nations proverbial back.
Yeah, that did happen with the Slavic nations pre-WW1. So having different types of propaganda that each has a different effect would be better overall.
How would fringe groups be handled? Like hippies or doomsday preppers?
Maybe they would be categorized like cults in the game, especially the later ones?
Probably adding “movement” that encompass cults, revolts, rebellions, activists and fringe groups in general would be better.
Would player know about such groups from their very inception or would they only become visible if the player takes the time to uncover them?
