If it happened more than 3 times another civilization is making that gate XD
Would there be ascension perks tie-ing to cohesion?
Sounds like a great idea, also I forgot if ascension perks were buffs or challenges, but either way there should be a perk in relation to cohesion.
I think they were mostly buffs.
Then itโll probably reduce cohesion reduction from all sources by 30% maybe?
Yeah that could be it for a simple cohesion perk.
Would researching and establishing sociology in-game help improve social cohesion?
Maybe it would make there be even less cohesion if your state is fundamentally flawed in some way and the educated realize?
I think Iโd have the potential to do so as much as it has the potential to worsen it, itโll affect their cohesion in accordance with their culture(s) and religion(s)
Edit: and that.
So in some cases the player would be better off leaving most in the dark?
Well, not that simply. The whole schtick of cohesion irl is that itโs the factor that is the reason for the rise and fall of civilization, itโll be the thing the player has to keep track of when growing stronger, almost as an anti sonwballing mechanic, and if they choose to prioritize it they might fall behind in other categories, they have to balance on a fine line while running basically, which sounds really hard and it might be a bit too hard even (which can easily be changed if such a model is unfavorable), but I think letting the player know that collapse and regrowth should be expected will make it that much better. After all no ancient civilization is around anymore (except china if you count them)
So I guess I went on this rant for the answer to just be โyesโ
Could you decrease other nationโs cohesion directly or only indirectly via some destabilizing actions?
Decreasing would be very difficult for the player to achieve, inciting a civil war or a civil unrest isnโt nothing easy, and they would have to keep it secret since if the people figured out who supported those acts of terrorism they probably wonโt be happy about it (the other nation would regain itโs lost cohesion and 15% more or something?) especially after the discovery of nationalism or itโs equivalent (it becomes a 40% bonus afterwards?)
Speaking of, how early could nationalism be โdiscoveredโ in the game?
Well, I think we shouldnโt have a tech tree first of all, seems too game-y and unrealistic even. Another way to do it would be how civ alpha Centaurus(?) does it, you pick a field of science and theyโll give you tech after some time, it makes scientific discoveries feel like discoveries. So in theory around the first uprising/government lead by people that donโt share much in common, or something among those lines, since I think limiting techs by their era is fairly lame and, yet again, too game-y.
I am pretty sure it was stated a tech web (of the sort where it doesnโt have predefined techs) would be too hard to implement sometime ago.
I REALLY think Iโd be worth it, I mean itโll be better than a tech tree in every way, it doesnโt even need to avoid having pre defined techs.
That will depend on how many resources does the dev force have by the time we get to strategy stage development probably.
Most definitely, I might start helping by then with the coding, but I can barely plan my tomorrow let alone a few dozen months XD.
I can always help with game design, played every strategy game under the sun, and I know a decent bit of history too.
Eh, that stage of development is still many years away, probably over a decade.
