It’s the amount of damage required to kill a normal creature, but since your a twisted you can only die by being devoured*

I suppose this does mean that a twisted could in theory spare another after downing them, as long as they don’t begin to devour the defeated?

Just because they can’t kill you does not mean they can’t take you as prisoner. All they have to do is down you, put you in a cell, and then keep downing you forever! It will certainly be very fun when the time comes…

Why of course! How else would I be able to capture you and torture you until I’m done? I won’t just use it for you though. I want to know more, as does Fern, about the twisted on this planet. Perhaps they have a weakness that humans can exploit? We can’t find out unless we have test subjects to research!
