Approximately 602 +7 Million years ago, putative life on our azure world had survived beyond one of the greatest threats to its existence. Snowball Earth. It is estimated that perhaps up to 1% of life had endured the brutal frozen conditions. From these survivors have emerged among the earliest confirmed macroscopic life β The Lantian Biota. While earlier organisms such as the Francevillian Biota may have existed, those organismsβ remains are incomprehensible beyond repair. Lost to time.
In the timeline that is known to your kind, the Lantian Biotaβs uniquely complex algae, or if the interpretations are to be believed β even very early Metazoans, are the first pulse of the earliest diverse complex macroscopic life on Earth. The Ediacarans. Strange βanimalsβ unlike anything that would be observed later in Earthβs Geological History.
In your timeline, some of the Ediacaran organisms would give rise to many forms of life covering our blue marble. From Photosynthesizing Plants, to Saprotropic Fungi, and eventually the enigmatic animals that your kind eventually evolves. But that is not what is about to happen. Not exactly the same way.
Today was just like any day in the Early Ediacaran. A day filled with the life-giving Sun. The Lantian Biota of the past was not just limited to where Present Day China would be. It had a cosmopolitan distribution β one found around the world. Albeit, in small pockets smattered occasionally among the ancient coasts and deeper pelagic ocean plains.
Today, the Lantian biota of ancientBelgiumwas content with its existence and survival, just like any other day. But then, a ANOMALYoccurred from aMultiversalEntity, bringing something unexpectedβ¦A Meteor suddenly materialized out of nowhere, in the wrong time and the wrong place. The subsequent impact wipedout almost all of this Lantian biota, but the teleportation of this Meteor changed its properties and that of the few survivors.
These are nowβ¦.Surviving Supersβ¦
Tentative Rules (subject to change):
To join, give me the name of your Ediacaran Lantian biota organism and three potential powers you would like, as I will you give one of them (via RNG), and in case someone else already gets a power that you want.
~5 rounds per geological period to evolve before an Extinction Event occurs (depending on how things progress), or also face a βbossβ in the form of current apex predator of the period, which also has powers (from the pool of powers created from Players joining).
The nature of battles can change depending on how far we advance, such having a dance battle rather than an actual physical fight.
Whoever get the last βhitβ on the boss gets one extra βlifeβ for their organism.
1-2 mutations per round, must be gradual, and adaptations should be (but not limited to) being focused around powers; encouraged to be creative like using Hydrokinesis to create suction and move despite the organism not being motile.
Powers must be minimal, but enough to influence the evolution of the organism in question.
Powers can be upgraded gradually, but only after surviving an Extinction Event, and they cannot be OP (my discretion).
Mutations can improve probability of surviving an Extinction Event.
Surviving an Extinction Event will partially depend on RNG, kind of like real life.
Most Extinction Events may follow a similar time as that of unaltered Earth, depending on what organisms end up being created (like progression of land Photosynthesizers), and other extinctions ideas I come up with.
If your organism ends up going extinct, you can branch off someone else organism to continue in the FG, unless your organism has an extra life from defeating a βbossβ.
Other:
We can potentially create underwater civilizations based on the powers chosen, and how far we progress.
We can potentially create sentient plants or fungi based on the powers chosen, and amount of progression reached.
We do not have to follow the evolution of earth life in each Geological Period.
Description: It has an periderm (a squishy, cone-like structure) as its main body, which is crowned by an assortment of tenticles or finger-like appendages (which may have developed sticky surfaces and stinging cells), and internal fillimants acting as ribs running parrellel to its stucture.
They have an appearent maximum size of 40mm and live in colonies as sedentaries (non-moving creatures), their colonies wax and wane with the oxegen in the water. They are the early forms of creatures like Jellyfish and Coral.
Power list: Sensory Possession, Boil, and Split.
Possessions allow for remote sensing through nearby creatures.
Boil, boil the water around, with granted immunity to high temperatures.
Split, split into three weaker creatures, mentally still connected, so acting as a hivemind.
Glad to be back.

RNG rolling β¦ 1. You get the power of Possession.
RNG rolling β¦ 3. Looks like I get Pyrokinesis.

Name: Estis paleis.
Power suggestion 1: hyper-camo (basically invisibility)
Power suggestion 2: freezing
Power suggestion 3: jellyfish-like life cycle resetting
Hereβs a picture of the life cycle:
The little hairs sticking out of the βeggβ are located in holes in the shell, but also gather food, and are what centralizes into a primitive βmouth.β

Um so are they playing as that character or will they need to change it for an actual species accurate to the time?
The Lantian Biota period is pretty niche. Iβm currently looking through some research on the time period right now, Iβll edit and link the species after Iβm done with my decision.

I feel like AA could maybe help us with finding some species for us to chooseβ¦
