Thalassopocalypse

Mutations: Land/freshwater tolerance, specialize some of the front teeth to make ripping into and eating plants easier.

Not sure you can have two such mutations in one vote

Movement: move some population to the south african karoo highlands, I donโ€™t have a strategy for surviving the starvation, but if I max out my food sources I could survive a little longer

The thing is to survive longer than โ€œa little longerโ€ though

Mutant 1: Use part of the outer shell of the diploid spore capsule and the edges of the mother leaf to create slightly more fleshy tissues that can serve me for three things - a source of food for the spore in a stressed state (in addition to the capsule itself) and also start something called exo-zoochory, causing creatures that reach the fleshy spore to move the capsule and spread further away (the spore still contains a large amount of salt that would be worth digesting and therefore it is not endo-zoochory. In addition, it is not a fruit because it lacks too many elements to define it as a fruit. It is currently like a strange combination of Ephedra fruit-like, mangrove trees that use Hydrochory or Adiantum and pine cones/acorns) and that can also serve me as a marine dispersal unit (Hydrochory), allowing me to spread the spores more quickly and efficiently even to farther places, without harming the original dispersal ability. (Kills 3 Radiodontodraco in one pod).

Mutant 2: Increase the ability of the rhizomes to break down rock to extract more nutrients from them.

Do you plan to eventually develop full fruits?

No! I have all the freedom in the world to invent something new here. Fruit is one way, but weโ€™re in new territory here. I have the control to do whatever I want as long as itโ€™s scientifically correct, so Iโ€™m not going to invent fruits, itโ€™s something more unique for the purpose of a survival strategy.

So a thing BETTER than fruits?

Will this new thing still be tasty to potential herbivores and omnivores?

If we can find ways to consume it ig

Three more beetles, and then it is a band.

It is a carnivorous burrowing beetle I found in my basement (my basement is basically just a regular room, hence why it has carpet). Iโ€™m not really sure how it got down there but I donโ€™t want to think about the fact it survived for that long off of who knows whatโ€™s lurking down here.
