Scouting the iron, the large ridge seems to be the densest part. Looking around more, the iron gets less dense as you travel away.

Being lonely, you decide you should look for more attention. You scout southward beyond what you have seen before into the open plains, you think you find someone. A large plume of smoke rises in the distance, only a little farther than you can reach. For a breif second you think you see another drone, before it darts away.
Move drill to iron ridge(1):
You attempt to get the new drill to the iron, easier said than done. Your construction bots have more trouble getting there than the drone would have suggested. They arrive a few days late, and end up getting caught in a small storm. As the drill is brought up the the ridge, a slip up occurs with the drill taking on mud. The next day or so it is but back up, with not much physical damage, but some key pieces were knocked loose, lowering the quality.

You decide to look for more structures, and you definetly find one. Going a long ways west, you find an ominous black tower. Moving in further, you find it is surrounded by strange guardians. These so called guardians regularly patrol the tower, apearrance-wise they have a black metallic exterior, a engine-like underside glowing with blue light, two strange ‘guns’ on either side, and a single large blue eye. As they patrol they seem to float in the air. As you go closer, they all immediately notice your presense, stop, and stare at your drone, you notice they glow brighter when you draw closer. You reach some sort of line where they start launching a barrage of plasma rings out of their guns. You take some damage(5%) before turning around and leaving, a few shots are targeted at you as you escape, dealing more damage(8%).

An extra refinery is made for the sake of keeping production up. The new refinery is built on site to smelt the ore quickly. The refinery is built almost effortlessly and can have some extra time invested to make sure it is working at max efficiency.

You scout north looking for some extra water. Looking around for water is fairly boring, and more water is fairly easily found a short ways north. While looking at the aquifer to judge its size(It is very, very large), you catch a glimpse of, something in the air. You turn the drone back instead of investigating.

You plan a new drill, on a denser part of the coal. Construction goes, subpar, as the region is also tree dense, meaning that the drill has to be taken in smaller pieces. With the drill having to be made into less complete pieces, it requires more effort to put it together. Ultimately, the drill ends up being completed in bad state. Atleast it works.
Scout for silicate(2):
Scouting for silicate material seems to be a bust at first. No signs of silicate stone or sand are found. A minor disappointment. You think you find something, scouting it more, it is a somewhat large and thin vein of quartz. Really only dense enough for a screw drill to mine a single section for a year.

The lumber mill is built on the new island, getting to the island with a belt is tough. Making less time to invest in the mill, but the mill gets done eventually. The mill is turned on for testing, the saw activates, works atleast decent, and then it shuts down and you get an alert for low power.
Scout for trees(2):
As the trees on your island would last for about a week. Scouting around a tiny island covered in palm trees is found, this island has about a years worth of trees. Luckily trees can regrow if left alone. Although the island has only so many nutrients.

Scout west(1):
Altough west is not a disaster like the northeast, it is pretty much a dead end. With all tunnels at the end of the cavern getting too small to fit through. Ultimately leading the worst possible fate, being uninteresting.
Scout southwest cliff(3):
Scouting over the southwest cliff, you decide to delve down. The drop is extremely deep, with the only things to see on the way down being massive stone pillars holding the ceiling up. As you near the bottom, the air fills with volcanic gasses, and the temperature starts to increase. You reach the bottom, it is riddled with pools of brine and small volcanic vents. There seems to be two species of organisms down here. One being a species of algae that are thriving in this enviroment. The other are strange tree-like fungus with fire-resistent ‘wood’ that seem to feed off the algae through there mycelium. You turn back after several warnings about electricity and heat.
Scout for surface ore(5):
Finally something usable. You find sheets of iron to the north, not far beneath the ice. Heading this way you also find that the ice gets thinner as you go this way. The iron itself is arranged in thick red bands, all of which are very dense, and interspersed with rock.
