It at least sounds plausible, though I donāt know if they have made their software able to do that. Probably better to ask some EVGA enthusiast group or something. Open source RGB tools on Linux can probably do that, or at least any programmer should be able to modify them to do that, as long as they support controlling EVGA RGB controllers in the first place.
According to NikTek, GPU prices are falling downward because of the Ukraine crisis. I donāt know if itās true, but I was able to get that GPU for ~1400$ CDN (tax included). I guess you could look at PCPartPicker Canada.
Anyway, itās not like I have much choice either if I want to play it safe. The safest move is not to wait for the RTX 40s, but rather get an RTX 30 right now and wait until the RTX 40s are released. If the RTX 40s have a reasonable price following their launch (very unlikely), you could buy one of those provided one has the money. Otherwise, one must wait until their price falls down to buy those. That doesnāt include the huge population of scalpers and miners, however. One easy, yet despicable way to get a GPU easily would be to script your own Python Bot to buy a goddamn GPU, because there are so many buy bots online that itās impossible to get a GPU when it launches.
I just hope that the new PCIe 5.0 SSDs and Ryzen CPU wonāt get scalped that much this year.
Computer question: Can NordVPN conflict with pre-established antivirus? Two months ago, I bought NordVPN and installed the launcher. Everything was fine until mid-February where it was locking me out of my own network. The problem with the launcher is that it requires you to log in, yet the launcher is also messing with your network connection. Therefore, if you canāt connect to your Wi-Fi, you canāt use NordVPN. I suspect that even though you turned off your computer, youāre still connected to a VPN server, so the only way to get your connection back is to disconnect from that server. Of course, you need the Internet to disconnect from that server. What a paradox. I had grown so tired of it before I purchased a new router. You see, my computer is actually very far from my main router and it was connected wirelessly. So I figured that if it was connected to the network with a wire, NordVPN wouldnāt lock me out because the only way to disconnect me then would be to remove the Ethernet plug, right? Ehem, not exactly. The router I purchased was acting as a mesh node and the trick had been working until yesterday. āUnidentified networkā? BULLSHIT! I uninstalled NordVPN and restarted my node. Problem solved. If the problem reoccurs again, Iām going to staple my ing eyes to my monitor.
In the past it used to be so that the older models would rapidly drop in price when the new model is released. So you could use the strategy to be one year behind the bleeding edge tech to save a lot of money. Sadly it seems currently a lot of older GPUs are selling for more money than what they originally cost.
Anything can be blocked by antivirus. Especially if you have a free bad one. Though, the most popular software is unlikely to be blocked by antivirus as theyāll have a bunch of people report false positives to them.
Sounds like NordVPN is very terribly designed. No wonder they spam ads everywhere. This once again proves that when you have a terrible product, you can still try to make a ton of money by advertising. Conversely things that arenāt advertised at all or as much, the makers of those things are more confident in their productās quality as they donāt need to spam ads for people to use them.
Iāve only used a VPN for a little time, but when I did, I had Private Internet Access who didnāt have their own terrible software for Linux, instead they had open VPN configuration files you were able to enable and use it that way. It worked perfectly and didnāt have any bs lockout stuff, only when connecting, did you need to setup your credentials, you were able to disconnect very easily.
Iāve heard thereās a way to connect to NordVPN servers without the launcher, but Iām afraid it might provoke the comeback of those issues I mentioned earlier. Too risky.

I just installed my new RTX 3070 Ti and holy , itās huge! My old GTX 1660 was microscopic in comparison. Itās freakinā Goliath and it was so gigantic I had a lot of trouble unplugging it since there wasnāt enough space for my hands to manage my PSU cables. Did Nvidia even think about SFX builds? Holy ā¦
This just reminded me that I still somehow have the most posts on this thread (or at least thatās what it shows on my end) despite my inactivity for the past year or so⦠I really had no life back then, huh.
