Tectonic Plates. One of the main things for stabilizing the Earthโs climate and atmosphere was plate tectonics. Of course, theyโre not the only thing, but letโs assume that any planet that has sapient life in the universe has plate tectonics. Why am I talking about them? Well, itโs highly likely that continental drift will generate at least a small portion of habitable land outside the continent. So, when the species begins to spread across the planet, it will have bad first contact experiences like those that occurred on Earth, whether due to disease, religious indoctrination or just pure genocide. So, every time some scientist suggests sending high-frequency messages to the Aearja-32 system, a discussion will break out about how the first contact with an extrayarional civilization will be a bloodshed like it did occur when the Yamorha were discovered, or when they colonized the Ohatkha, perhaps someone will even quote the alien version of independence day. They will send mensages, of course, but due of simple fear, it will only be a few or just one time, greatly reducing the chance of us being able to capture it, heck, the message could have arrived in the middle of ww1 and we would never have known. why? the sample that they and we have of first contact was made by racist explorers, and not by well-prepared scientists.
This may be extremely biased, but I like thinking about it anyway.
