SFS is just a game, it is not reality.

So what, we are locked inside a simulation which we can play?

I’ve been thinking about what kind of question I could ask GabeN by email and I recently came across this.

Could superbatteries be implemented in VR tech? If so, how long would a headset last if they worked on it?

Does what I say make sense?

I guess these ā€œsuperbatteriesā€ can be included in a VR set’s design, but that would depend on how accessible they are (assuming they cannot be recharged).

@hhyyrylainen I’m asking you since you’re experienced with Linux. Recently, I’ve been thinking about how .deb (for Debian distros) or .rpm (for Red Hat distros) files are the Linux equivalent of .msi files on Windows. However, I remember seeing .aarch64 files, which are supposedly for Arch Linux distros like SteamOS 3.0. Unfortunately, whenever I search for this, it just keeps popping pages about AMD 64, Intel or how to install .deb files on Arch Linux. Am I a belgium or did such file extension really exist?

Usually for architecture specific packages (so for example a program might be compiled for x86, x86_64, and arm 64) the architecture is included in the name. So for example a hypothetical Thrive package for debian-based systems could be called thrive.x86_64.deb or thrive.aarch64.deb based on what CPU it is for.

When should we expect linux to surpass windows in popularity?

it has.

that’s obviously a misunderstanding of your question, you meant when will the laptop my tech illiterate friend gets be a macbook, a regular laptop with linux, or a regular laptop with windows, and they’re asking you why the linux laptop is 20 dollars cheaper and the macbook is ungodly expensive instead of all their usually questions. You didn’t mean when will linux be the most used operating system, or even when will linux be more common than windows, because:

If you weren’t aware, the linux kernel is by far the most used kernel. Most servers run linux, most IoT devices run linux, and of course the elephant in the room, the most used operating system globally, Android, is just linux with the serial numbers filed off, i mean the kernel is literally linux, they just tricked it into doing some ridiculous things for some reason, so you have to root it to get it to act like linux again.

I see, so Linux really is the most popular OS if I understand correctly.

Yeah, it has been for a while I’m pretty sure. To answer your actual question: ā€œwhen will linux be a more common solution to the problems windows solves than windows isā€, I’d say it’ll be a while, basically just a question of if a steamOS type commercially developed, largely windows compatible, dumbed down Linux is made for productivity. That’s basically the same question as when will ubuntu ship with a well configured winetricks install, which is to say, I have no clue. Once we have one of those I think a few institutions would switch just for cost (enterprise editions of windows aren’t cheap), and then we’d get a general market fragmentation. I don’t think it’d go linux > everything, I think it’d go linux >= macOS. After than slowly windows looses market share, maybe windows 13 won’t run well unless you have < 128 gb of ram but it’s shipping on machines with 72 gb, maybe windows on ARM will get comparably locked down as macOS without any of the benefits, I don’t know, I trust Microsoft to belgium up for me, and eventually windows won’t be the major OS anymore. ← That whole paragraph is pure speculation, feel free to ignore it.

I see.

What has been going on with EE?

Yesterday I had my first interaction with JWs in four years. Below is an account of this somewhat bizarre experience:

[totally not a wall of text]

It began with an unexpected call on the entry phone. At first I thought it may have been a package, or a door-to-door salesman, but the moment I picked up the handset and heard the person on the other end start in a neutral-friendly, somewhat robotic voice with ā€œDzień dobry, nazywam się pani Ewa […]ā€[1], I just knew it was going to be JWs, as a typical wandering trader trying to sell me potatoes would begin a conversation completely differently. My expectation was quickly confirmed by her continuing with ā€œ[…] Oferujemy bezpłatne szkolenia biblijne […]ā€[2] and going off on an almost minute-long litany advertising how great these Bible studies are and how they allow people to find answers to bothersome questions like ā€œdoes God care about us?ā€. After she finished, she asked me if I’m interested, to which I responded with ā€œNie, nie jestem zainteresowanyā€[3]. This resulted in an exchange of goodbyes, ending the conversation. However, just a few minutes later, I heard another call, and when I picked up, again I heard ā€œDzień dobry, nazywam się pani Ewa. Oferujemy bezpłatne szkolenia biblijne […]ā€[4]. ā€œMrs. Evaā€ continued to say exactly what she already said, just cut short. She used the exact same words, sentences, rhythm, tone of voice, and intonation. It was so eerily similar, that until she stopped just before delving into the topic of activities that can be conducted on the Bible studies, I was wondering whether I was listening to a pre-recorded message. The conversation ended similarly to the last one. After she asked me, if I’m interested, I gave a negative response and reminded her that she already called us. To that, she apologized, saying that she made a mistake, then gave a goodbye, I responded with a goodbye, and the interaction truly over.

Sorry if the writing and phrasing here is somewhat awkward. I started to write this yesterday in a different mindset, now I don’t feel like rephrasing everything that I already wrote.

What does ā€œEEā€ stand for? I feel like I recognize an ā€œEEā€ logo from somewhere, but I can’t remember what it was.

  1. ā€œHello, my name is Mrs. Eva […]ā€ ā†©ļøŽ

  2. ā€œ[…] We’re offering free Bible studies […]ā€ ā†©ļøŽ

  3. ā€œNo, I’m not interestedā€ ā†©ļøŽ

  4. ā€œHello, my name is Mrs. Eva. We’re offering free Bible studies […]ā€ ā†©ļøŽ

EE stands for ā€œElysian Eclipseā€, a ā€œSpiritual Successorā€ to Spore.

There’s literally JWs right outside where I am, I’m at the library at my school doing homework and right outside is the ā€œfree speech cornerā€ (which is a very funny concept to me) where they park their old people to bug us. They have their signs about free Bible studies, I totally get the rehearsed, recorded sounding stuff. They’re not robotic in person or anything, they’re human, full emotions and what not, but I swear their laughs are rehearsed and they never get unhappy about stuff.

This being thrive forums, I assume Elysian Eclipse

Yep. I originally inputed it as a silly little joke, then I just never bothered to change it and now it kind off became my new online identity lol.
