so if I ever have a spare thousand dollars and nothing better to buy, I might join the group of mac playing thrivers.

It’s not like Thrive experience on Mac will be so much different from “regular” Thrive, right?

that wouldn’t be why I’d buy an M series mac, it’d probably be more to try all the cool mac exclusive things like asahi linux, performant arm stuff, and irritating smuggness. Also long battery life sounds nice.

For serious

Most arm processors available to consumers legitimately suck. They’re cheap though. Pis and whatnot, you get the idea. The two (3) exceptions are mobile phones but those don’t have the open source drivers to run linux or any other decent OS, and android sucks (less than iOS but still bad), the second exception, the big one that matters, is Macs. The third exceptions is windows on arm laptops and those are fake, they’re closer to android phones but weirder and lamer.
