My PC crashed when he said “booty”.
COPIUM FREMONT!!! DECKARD! AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
AMD had better announce new GPUs soon
I would really like to see cheap used 7000 series GPUs please (I’m probably not actually upgrading my gpu any time soon lol)
i really lik to watch people make internet riots over graphic cards (i guess is what the stuff with fancy number names is?) while i silently watch in a corner with the obscure amd thing that came with the laptop.
its akin to watching tv programs about rich people drama, but with led gamer lights
Is it better to get an Intel CPU or AMD CPU? I am thinking of getting a computer with AMD CPU and GPU since I have never tried a product with AMD hardware and software before. Plus, I don’t know how long my “potato” PC will last…Might get a Framework if I get enough money…
Framework would be so cool if I had a spare thousand dollars.
Depends on the generation, weather you’re getting a laptop or building a desktop, and on several other factors. For the most part, Intel is exploding right now, AMD isn’t.
edit: specifically for a framework, a 7840U or anything close (7640U or HS or whatever) is a really quite powerful CPU glued to the second most powerful iGPU in existence, ignoring things like mac pros and consoles, and an recent gen i7 or whatever is like, a good CPU, and a meh iGPU. The very latest i7s have serious iGPUs, but those aren’t on framework yet I think.
You don’t need more deckard drugs, we know when it should be released now.
It’s less entertaining when you realize that Nvidia is abusing their market leader position in their pricing and features locked to newer cards. And especially on Linux AMD has open source drivers and Nvidia has locked down outdated stuff that doesn’t play nice with everyone else (granted they did release a small part of their driver stack as open source, but that was a quite small step in the right direction). And sadly that situation is not going to change unless Nvidia gets dethroned, which seems unlikely to happen because no matter how much people complain about the pricing and feature locking, they will keep buying the belgium Nvidia cards.
Exactly my initial thought. Intel is doing the same thing as Nvidia: abusing their market leader power. And it has finally caught up to them.
AMD is really crushing it in the higher end workstation CPUs, which is kind of the only segment I pay any attention to anymore. So depends on the usecase and pricing of the relevant CPU models whether I would recommend any Intel CPU.
Let’s hope the collapse will knock on their doorbell not that far into the future… Just like how it did with intel.
I agree with all of this, it’s something anyone who cares about hardware should understand. Nvidia is being completely evil. They have one genuine feature, DLSS, and several non-features they only get from being a near-monopoly (the A100s and whatnot being standard, CUDA being standard, more supported slightly more mature raytracing). AMD is no saint, but I prefer no DLSS over price-gouged horrific crazy people AI-first but VRAM last GPUs.
Plus AMD CPUs make infinitely more sense if you are in the workstation market. I’m not in the high end workstation market, but I have basically the same needs as that market.
Most people now agreed with what BJS said…
why people need to do this?? does having money make your critical thinking go to the trashcan or what?
They have no other choice which’d suit them.
That only applies if you are a 4090 buyer (so you had like almost two grand to spend on a GPU). Everyone else could buy an AMD 7900 XTX.
haha someone commented…
“CEO math” “The more you buy the more you save” Jensen you are not a clown, you’re the whole circus right now
You plan on becoming a politician?
I think that’s more because the date was more reasonable with the new data we got.
No, but if I were one…
Well guess you aren’t becoming a politician anytime soon…
I mean it’s a legitimate technology, it’s just a dumb one. I think optimizing games is a more sustainable solution and most of your frames being fake is stupid, but the fake frames trick WORKS.
There’s some complicated and very effective marketing behind this. A lot of people like to go look up the fastest GPUs and read or watch just how powerful they are. You compare something like a 4090 to something like 7900XTX and Nvidia is obviously just better. The XTX has way more letters at the end and it still can’t compete! Well, you can’t afford either of those, or maybe you can afford an XTX but not the 4090 and just get a 4070 TI Super or something because that also has lots of letters at the end so you assume it cancels out. If you have truly belgium off amounts of money, the 4090 is legitimately better. If you don’t then you want to be like the fancy rich people who say they could never touch AMD. And… Me and hhy are being politer than average right now. Many AMD fans are exasperating. Basically, Nvidia has the truly high end fully controlled, and uses that as marketing. That’s why the X090 always has much more VRAM than all their other GPUs, because when you spent 2000 dollars on a GPU 24 gigs of ram is worth it, and if you can’t afford that Nvidia has no reason to give you any, which is honestly fine if you aren’t doing AI or 4k or something, but I mean people do both, some people do 8k. Plus, DLSS makes it really easy to ignore how bad your GPU is, and before the modern era of DLSS and RTX, AMD’s drivers sucked, and before that I think the 400 series were an era of AMD being relatively dominant, but I never bought a GPU until pretty recently so I don’t really remember, and I only ever had a cute little 550 from that era. It broke, sadly, but now I have a nice GPU that does what I want.
Asking once against because I’m not sure if it was ever properly answered, but are political PMs ought to get the same treatment as attempts at creating “political threads” (that being deletion)?
PMs re not actively read by moderators, only if someone reports content in a PM will it be looked at. So if someone gets invited to a politics PM they want no part in, they just need to report it.
