THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

When in May do you think itโ€™ll be retiring?

Honestly It be better for game dev if they won and lowered the cut to the new industry standard.

30% is still the industry standard if you deal with stores other than itch.io and epic store.

But at what cost would that victory be?

Being an indie developer is not an easy job and this isnโ€™t because of the share cut. To be successful, you need to fulfill certain conditions :

  • Having the right idea for a game
    • To fulfill this condition, your game should please at least a few niches. For example, ARK: Survival Evolved pandered to survival players and dinosaur fans.
  • Putting the right price
    • The price should follow the scope of the game. If itโ€™s just a small game, you shouldnโ€™t put more than around 12$.
  • Advertising the game before releasing it
    • This can include giving the game to some reviewers before it releases or post about it online.
  • Not being an belgium
    • Iโ€™ve seen quite a few indie games getting delisted because the developers did something bad to their audience. For example, Iโ€™ve seen one game getting bad reviews because the developer revoked the game from those who bought it as Steam keys (I think it was a war game). I also saw another game (an anime game I think) getting delisted after multiple reports of malware (trojan) associated with the gameโ€™s files.

No clue tbh. Prolly somewhere mid-May, but it could be on any day of the month.

Does Thrive go for the Evolution simulators market, strategy games market, and possibly educational games market and creative games market (since people have used the macroscopic editor to make things like pixel art)?

Also, how has everyone else here communicated Thrive to those around them? In my Technology Commercialization class, there was useful chart for helping to define a product called your Ideal Customers from

Also, there were these questions stuck in my mind from the class:

  1. What does your customer need (JTBD)?
  2. What is their current process (solution)?
  3. Where is the deficiency (context) in the customerโ€™s current solution?
  4. Do customers struggle more with certain contexts (motivation)?
  5. How do they decide to adopt/get rid off a new solution (criteria)?

Thrive is supposed to be an accurate evolution simulator game thing, so itโ€™d most likely appeal to the same or similar fanbase the original Spore demo didโ€ฆ

I could say the forum mightโ€™ve turned into a sea even recently. A calm one for that.

I recently watched The Flash (2023) movie. Could the CGI have been better in the time-travel scenes near the end? Yes. Was the movie fun to watch? For me, it was fun, and I would watch it again. The movie definitely had heart poured into it, even though the movie was not perfect.

Apparently it used AI to resurrect dead actorsโ€ฆ

I recall there were instances where dead actors forced characters to be terminated from storylinesโ€ฆ

And James Earl Jones gave his permission for studios to use his voice after he dies.
