I meanโฆ when chrome was new and firefox was common, it was common, not as common as chromium as a whole but firefox had a very large market share once upon a time

likely not, chrome is a capitalistic monopoly driven by google. With firefox at the helm it would likely have gotten bad faster, but it would not have made gecko/spidermonkey as popular as chromium/v8, it simply has no incentive to force out other browser engines or spread itโs hegemony. Chromium and webkit and some minor open source engines would have likely benefited, as opener more community driven projects like firefox are more likely to support web standards which define less about your browser and gracefully degrade instead of getting angry you arenโt on chrome. Chromium would likely have still be VERY popular, maybe even slowly overtaking firefox eventually, google is a really powerful ally.

It seems like a relatively small browser so probably not anytime soon.
Honestly I might use fennec, I use waterfox, which is quite good, but isnโt anything special, if fennec has any good features it might sway me

whelp, iโm hugely conflicted right now and may switch broswers, but waterfox had a big update I somehow missed, fennec is on f-droid but has telemetry not fully disabled, etc. lots of factors. I may switch soon, and am currently just wishing librewolf would port to mobile
