I found an interesting speculative evolution project called Ilion.

For how long has this thing been going?

It looks like for twelve years. The last update was September of last year.

That’s a rather old spec evo project then… Not much younger than Thrive even!

That seems very interesting, thank you for having shared it with us.

At first I thought it’s name had something to do with lions…

I had the exact same reaction when I first found the site.

Heck, I’ve even read the name as β€œlion” the first time I read it…

Fortunately, the 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula did not produce very large tsunamis. One factor is that the hypocenter was not as deep as more destructive earthquakes, and that the earthquake was not as strong (less than magnitude 9).

I wonder how devastating of a tsunami could a magnitude 10 Earthquake produce at optimal conditions…

Fortunately, it would not happen, since the strength of an earthquake is proportional to the length of the faultline, which would be half the circumference of the Earth in this case. But since you asked, it might be similar to what is seen in the disaster movie 2012.

If an island popped up in 100% international waters, who would get to receive it?

Probably depends on where the island pops up. Imagine if an island pops up in-between different borders…
