THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

Not sure, maybe it gives a bit to all and they all give a bit back to it?

Itโ€™s Deckard, not deckcard. Anyway, letโ€™s see.

The Valve Index was trademarked on October 2nd of 2018 and was announced on April 30th of 2019 (announcement happened 6-7 months after being trademarked).

The Steam Deck was trademarked on July 14th of 2021 and was announced on July 15th of 2021 (announcement happened a single day after being trademarked).

The announcement may happen from a single day to 7 months after the product is trademarked. The Steam Frame (Valve Deckard) was trademarked on September 2nd of 2025. From this logic, it could be announced within the next 6-7 months (March-April).

Possible dates/times of announcement:

  • Steam Autumn Sales (September 29th - October 6th, 2025)
  • October 2nd, 2025
  • November-December 2025
  • Steam Winter Sales (December 18th, 2025 - January 5th, 2026)
  • Steam Spring Sales (March 19th - March 26th, 2026)
  • March-April 2026

They have until May 2026 to announce it.

Parasites do need to keep up with their hosts to survive afterallโ€ฆ

Are mosquitoes are considered parasites? They still get nutrients from other food sources besides blood. From what I have seen, it is debatable whether female mosquitoes are ectoparasites or not.

Well they (the hemophagous ones) do need the blood of other organisms to reproduce, so I suppose theyโ€™re either parasites or โ€œmicro-predatorsโ€ (if thatโ€™s what those are called).

Considering a female mosquito can take up to four minutes for a sucking up blood, which is a relatively short amount of time, this is the main reason for the debate. If mosquitoes started to lay their eggs inside other organisms they bite, like screwflies, then they definitely would be considered a medically termed and scientifically termed parasite.

So perhaps itโ€™s a micro-predator then like (I think) vampire bats are?

I wonder if there are mosquitoes who feed on vampire bats? A haematophage feeding on the blood of another haemtophage. A hyperhaematophage?

And then maybe they are eaten by some other stuff that is being โ€œhuntedโ€ by those blood bats?

I wonder if some other animals also have such an ability but we just couldnโ€™t check because theyโ€™re not domesticated/used to usโ€ฆ

It is possible. The more we find out about all forms of life, the more we realize how much we donโ€™t know about them.

Maybe one day we will know everything about them?
