THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

Now I can’t stop imagining Doomlightning as a pink Anomalocaris cooking things with crazy commentary…

Would it be in a fish tank doing all that or would it be on land?

The longest Wooly rhino horn ever found has been used to estimate the age of these prehistoric beasts.

Maybe the smaller popularity of woolly rhinos will protect them from scam revivals for a while…

Hopefully. I seriously hope no one tries to make an real-life reboot of Ice Age films using genetically recreated animals.

The CGI remakes might be horrible but at least they don’t use real animals… I think…

@hhyyrylainen I need your advice on Fedora matters. I remember that my headset fully worked earlier today, but now only my microphone is being detected and fully working. The only audio detected is my monitor’s. Have you faced similar issues in the past?

I also followed the instructions on this page (Making sure you're not a bot!) and despite my efforts, I have this error:

modinfo: ERROR: Module nvidia not found.

after doing

sudo modinfo -F version nvidia

How is it connected?

I have an audio interface (Edit: to clarify that is connected through USB) that stops working randomly after resuming from sleep a few times a month. And to fix it I just unplug it and plug it back in and then it is detected again.

Also for Nvidia, this is the most important bit:

After the RPM transaction ends, please remember to wait until the kmod has been built. This can take up to 5 minutes on some systems.

Whenever you install or update the Nvidia packages you need to just wait some minutes until the actual driver is compiled in the background. So for example if you are used to rebooting immediately after installing updates, you don’t really want to do that but to wait a few minutes for Nvidia before rebooting (this is probably not possible with the automatic GUI update, but I can do that as I update always through the terminal, though I don’t have an Nvidia GPU in my main computer to not have to deal with the desktop issues Nvidia has on Linux).

It seems all I had to do was reboot my PC.

The settings would show my microphone and all I had to do was changing the profile to Analog Stereo Duplex. Not very obvious, though. I expected my headphones to be shown immediately after plugging it in.

Sometimes you need stuff to rest for a while before it starts working…

I mean that’s also a thing. After installing the nvidia stuff for the first time you need to reboot for the kernel modules etc. to be loaded. You could theoretically load those manually, but it is just easier to reboot to make sure the graphics drivers all load fine.

By “reply” I meant “reply to this post” if it isn’t obvious.

Also I wonder if there are people in here who straight up don’t believe a burst will happen…
