Mumm-ra is a mummy, though whether he used to be human or not . . . maybe? He does sort of look like a human mummy. If I remember correctly, humans, while certainly no longer the dominant species, were still around in the series.

So what is the dominant species on the Earth by that time then?

There were so many intelligent species, I don’t know what to classify as dominant.

The remake did not do so well, though I personally liked it.

The second season would have been crazy, based on what the showrunners wanted.

Mumm-ra rebels against the Ancient Spirits of Evil. Pumyra, Lion-O’s potential love interest, becomes an insect creature on Mumm-ra’s side, and possibly gets redeemed. The rest of the power stones are found. The Soul-Weaver becomes important for battling against Mumm-ra. The sword Excaliber was supposed to be appear along with the Drifter (I think so). Bengal was supposed to be the son of Tygra (Lion-O’s older adopted brother) and Cheetra, with Tygra dying at the end.

Yes. Lion-O is the main character’s name.

Oh, and Snarf, Lion-O’s pet (the small cat-like thing on the lower left), was supposed to be revealed as the one of the remaining ancestors of the sentient cats.

I am not sure for the original show. I did not get a chance to watch the entire original 1980’s show. My dad used to watch when he was kid.

For the new show, the ThunderTank was repurposed from the Lizards, who attached Thundera and caused the cat kingdom to fall.

Were lizards those initially invading aliens poodelicus mentioned that happened alongside their planet’s demise?

Maybe in the original series. In the new series, after an ancient galactic war, all of the sentient spacefaring races ended up stranded on the new planet along with Mumm-ra (who was trapped for centuries in his stranded Pyramid spaceship).

Apparently, humans are extinct in the new version. I am not sure if it was planned for them return in some capacity.
