THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 3)

And we need to develop better technology to actually get over there.

Probably only to be developed past our lifetimes

Planets in the habitable zone of their star are very common. What makes a planet rare is actually knowing anything about them.

Yeah since you need light from their atmospheres for that

We could have already discovered a planet with an atmosphere, a large liquid ocean, mild temperatures and complex multicellular life but because we haven’t looked properly at many of the planets we have discovered we wouldn’t ever know.

I think we first need to discover the actual life on a planet before we can claim we have discovered a planet with life

You don’t have to physically observe a moving animal on an alien planet to discover it. You can detect life from the atmospheric composition. (Oxygen + Methane + Dimethyl Sulfide)

I think for the scientists you still need quite a few more proofs for it to be decisively concluded to be life

What would the atmospheric composition be for detecting anaerobic life?

Idk I suppose mostly nitrogen and some carbon dioxide + methane? Oxygen does get rid of lots of atmospheric compounds

In an alternate universe, all vertebrates have 4 eyes for sight instead of 2.

Can’t wait for someone to make a full blown spec timeline project for vertebrates out of this

Alright, time to start writing.

Now we need an alternative universe where amphibians, pseudosuchians and other reptiles, snapsids, and dinosaurs/birds all descendent from a hexapod ancestor, instead of a tetrapod ancestor.

Also paired with the extra eye pair?

What if Earth had lower gravity and lower dense atmosphere? Would Earth life have been more similar to Avatar’s Pandora?

I think this could lead to the Earth getting Mars’d if we reduce the portions too much

So basically not too much smaller than Venus?

Also would moon stay the same size?

It should probably be scaled down slightly, too.
