because they are capable of copying some genes doesnt mean they can make genes from nothing or that they even know what a gene is

they could modify a gene for luciferins and luciferases to make them produce light in the radiowave frequencies

your species would be extremely vulnerable to any tear in their membrane

they have a cytoskeleton that, like with all cells, scales in proportions with their size so they would be less vulnerable than you seem to think. also there are cells that can regenerate from just some cytoplasm, one nucleus, and a piece of a membrane

no it wouldn’t. not until it was 5 inches thick anyway as they can produce more muscle fibers to move more forcefully.

your species would have an extremely slow nervous system.

they literally use nanowires that move signals faster than you can process them. if it lit up a light spanning one square meter and moved it forwards as quickly as it could you would not even notice it.

not really. i could just send it to my brain to be used as fuel and then turn it into a protein for O2 storage.

antibiotics work by damaging the membrane of the bacteria, so your species would surelly be affected by it.

only their surface, which can easily be repaired, would be affected. they can easily get rid of any surface that touched antibiotics and, if needed, they can move their more important organelles inwards while moving less important ones out to create as much space as possible between them and the antibiotics as their cytoskeleton is able to be modified at will.

bacterial brain: this animal has endosymbiotic bacteria that function as neurons do in a regular animal but use bundles of nanowires that are insulated from the rest of the cell except for at the start and the end. these nanowires allow far faster processing than a human but they have to send a pattern for each chemical along with a signal from the center nanowire. due to the electrotrophic nature of these bacteria(they produce electricity as waste but have evolved to read it and pass it along but only with multiple inputs to stop malfunctions) the changelings must eat a minimum of 40 grams of metal as conductive as copper or less for more conductive metals to fuel their brains(it is recommended that this is paired with unicellular as it is far less efficient without it)

with it i can metabolize almost any metal. infact with that trait i must eat metal. your copper bullets are merely candy to me.
