Would that be a way to reward loyal steam users?
No, itโs to deter scalpers from mass creating Steam accounts to buy those products.
I mean couldnโt it still become a loyalty check if the threshold is high enough
obvious compromise: any account older than the price being confirmed can buy or sell up to the limit of steam machines and frames, any new account needs to spend a few dollars on games to buy one, and to buy the full limit needs to play a hundred hours or something. or the full limit is one,
Do we know if Steam has anti-bot measures to prevent bots from playing games?
kinda minimal tbh but if thereโs a huge botting spree, valve will ramp up measures
Have there been any major botting sprees before in Steamโs history?
Should G/CPU providers do something similar?
First we have to see whether they will stop adding AI to everything.
Canโt we stop both at the same time?
no because they arent doing the same thing. Their goals are different. Nvidia makes the most money if they can consistently get the most predictable income from sales, and more importantly hype from having the best GPUs. so, selling out immediately actually helps! (more reliable, only a few people getting a 5090 keeps it feeling special, thus increasing hype, scalping makes the perceived value higher and makes people jump at the chance for the normal price so they dont have to do sales)
which is there to generate hype and mysticism, which is what Nvidia wants.
valve wants to create a whole ecosystem of devices, gamers, games, publishers, and an operating system that allows them to stop relying on microsoft and challenge perhaps sony for the console market. This has no use for AI, no use for only a few people being able to afford stuff, etc. Scalping makes the steam machine look like a novelty, youโll notice the ps4 never sold too much or too little for itโs own good, and the PS5 largely didnโt excepting supply chain issues, and uh. uh. the pro. that thing was a mystery to me. Valve probably could take the console market by virtue of not being as stupid as sony or microsft, but if so, they need to stay reliable, consistent, and produce enough cubes and controllers without loosing liquidity
I mean with how gaben is apprently pro-ai my hopes arenโt too highโฆ
How do you find such videos?
YouTube randomly recommended this to me while I was searching for โHumans being kindโ.
Well it is accurate to the search query
