This is one those questions that’s impossible to answer. However, from all the information that I’ve gathered, expect such update roughly in this decade.

Focus moves to multicellular development after the microbe stage is complete (which will be release number 1.0). So the focus moving to multicellular development will happen in about 2-3 years. Adding on top a couple of years should then enough to have a complete enough multicellular stage to no longer call it a prototype.
