To be honest I also had the feeling for quite some time that rusticyanin is rather OP when compared with regular chemosynthesis. But oh well, we don’t know if a balance change impacting either of these two can be fit into the roadmap anymore.
They are not.
I’ve been doing new features at max speed with not much time to balance them whatsoever, so it seems like the vent eruptions ended up at a balance where it is very rare that hydrogen sulfide would end up being lower than 20 after a few generations.
Also for not that dense clouds if you increase the radius of your cell and movement speed, it might result in a better survivability than another approach. Though I’m not sure as I haven’t tested.

Getting a wider cell and becoming much faster at the same time to make your organism more efficient isn’t such an easy task to do, especially if you’re a H2S consumer…
