0.8.2 Release General Feedback

You can migrate the character you control to any patch you have population in. I never went extinct in the vents. This is especially obvious with the new migration manager system where you can have auto-evo do the work of colonizing other patches then to move to the one you want.

Oh… I forgot this was added. I suppose with a build good enough you don’t need to worry about that.

When I was attempt to push my sister cell into a cloud of Glucose so it would not die, I clipped into it (0.8.2.1).

Could you escape this cell or were you stuck in a more permanent, annoying way?

Thermosynthesis only generates energy when your cell is heating up. This should be mentioned in multiple of the tooltips related to the feature.

This is probably the reason why the heat vision was useless for you…

We don’t have enough development resources to ensure that OpenGL mode is fully usable. It is mostly just meant to make sure everyone can play the game, even if the game is way darker and bloomier than intended.

So there’s no way to not take damage when you inevitably have to cool off again because the heat can only go so high? Shouldn’t this feature make glucose or something so you have at least a few seconds to adjust?

Heat is actually accumulated in your cell based on your storage, but it is true it gets used up very fast. I think this needs some balancing changes but no one else has suggested any numbers, and I haven’t had time to work on this.

Also you don’t need to use an organism that is ONLY thermosynthetic, multi-energy-source critters might find better usage in thermo.

I think I was unable to come out, but it was only for a short time. I only came out once my sister cell divided, pushing me away. Let me check by attempting to have this happen again.

So I was able to clip again into my sister cell, but as both cells were increasing in size due to passive reproduction. I think I was in the place where the new organelle would have been placed before the organelle divided. This time, I had more time to move around and check that I am in fact able to come out of my sister cell.

Hm. So this seems like a less problematic issue than the pili-stuck sister cells…
Any other potential bugs you encountered?

It appears that despite having changed the tolerances to fit the environment and not showing any overall penalty, in the individual tolerance tool tips, they still say I am not properly adapted and that I have a small penalty (0.8.2.1 - OpenGL mode).

Are you sure this isn’t due to the oxygen tolerance?

The Oxygen Tolerance tool tip showed that I am properly adapted and have no current penalty. Same thing with the UV Tolerance tool tip. It was only the Temperature Tolerance and Pressure Tolerance tool tips that have this bug, even though I have the proper Temperature and Pressure Tolerances. :person_shrugging:

Edit: The bug also includes the UV Resistance penalty, despite having 100 UV resistance.

Did the bug of the penealties and warnings of mistolerance go away later on?

It did not go away, despite staying in the same patch and changing every one of the tolerance sliders to be adapted. I even changed patches and it still persisted. I will see how long this bug persists in my current playthrough.

I am not sure if this is related, but it happened before the Global Glaciation event was about to trigger.

This is my second playthrough of 0.8.2.1. The first playthrough of 0.8.2.1 was when I found the clipping bug.

Edit: The bug seems to have gone away after two turns. I will see if the bug returns.

If it appears in like 50% of playthroughs, it’s a very common bug then.

The tolerance bugs reappeared again two turns later.

Now let’s see if it just oscillates between being present for 2 turns and then not being there for 2 turns…
