Hello there, I have a bunch of ideas for what could be used. I am making a seperate topic because i have alot of ideas and putting them in a reply is simply too much.
Vehicles
Industrial stage is bassicaly society stage but with a larger scale, tanks, planes, and ships. This may had been obvious to add but my full idea is that you place a bunch of factories in the city or across your country, eg: motor factory, steel mill, etc. It may be possible that there is some tank editor but i think if we add editors for almost everything then the game may be too much on your CPU and GPU. So i think we should simply just incorporate what your military vehicles can do into a tech tree.
2. National statistics
I think its important that a player knows what is going on with his nation. We could add a bunch of statistics about your nation, values that will matter on events and outcomes for your nation. For example:
Money
If your nation does not have enough money, it may become less stable because you cannot fund projects
Stability
Stability may be the most important stat for your nation, it is influenced by your events, wars, diplomatic ties, living quality, treasury, security, etc. If you do not have enough stability, some movements may start declaring a war for independence agaisnt you and its generally one of the most important things a player should look out for.
Resources
It may add complexity to the stage but i think its important that alot of recourses are required for the player to progress. Think about it. Creating resource networks, highways, transport connections is really important. You can either sell the recourses to your own citizens, export it to others, or use them to create better products in your factories. Some recourses, are required for you to make necessary military vehicles.
Telegram technology
If you played spore, you can see that in late civilization stage/space stage you can talk with other nations or specimen of a race. I dont exaclty know how can early telegram technology can be implemented or what it may look like, but i think that video calls may appear from that point on. You can contact a nation and choose from a few tabs like โTradeโ โDiplomationโ etc. Im no GUI designer, but we can take inspiration of spore and make a leader of a nation appear on the screen with his side of conversation and your options to choose from of what can you say.
4. Nuclear weapons
The most ruthless, fun and chaotic weapon you can have in this stage. Nukes may be created from uranium and require alot of research. If your on easy difficulty, then until you create a nuclear weapon, no other nation will make a nuclear weapon except you. Sure, you can make multiple types of nukes, one that are launched on rockets, dropped from planes, or even from submarines. But for simplicity i think we should only make ICBMs. Now imagine a scenario where your launching an ICBM. if the nation is strong then they may contact you and threaten you before the icbm even reaches its final destination. Or maybe they will contact you after the strike, ussualy declaring a war. The international reaction will not be good and you may be severing alot of diplomatic ties because of what you did. When contacting a nation after a nuclear strike, some nations may say something along the lines of โHey, that wasnโt cool, but we will let it slide.โ.
5. Transport networks and province upgrades
It may be possible that you can upgrade something like โInfrastructureโ of a province. Upgrading it will cause it to bring in more revenue, be less likely to start a protest, more farms are created, upgrade efficiency of factories etc. You can also construct highways between cities that will improve your military travel speed unless its contested.
And for now, thats all I have, feel free to discuss

I think thereโs a large enough difference between the older bomb-like nukes vs missile nukes that it warrants a distinction between the two. Most importantly nukes that are dropped like bombs need to be carried by a plane to itโs place of strike which is a lot less safe than a rocket nuke, but also what youโd start with most likely.
Not all civilizations in the game will have the concept of money, so your projects would likely be limited by resources.

Actually maybe resources should also be required with money anyways since you canโt just build structures out of the money itself usually. That being said, who exactly is being paid? The local craftsmen, workers and stuff?
Sure we can only do resource trading but if there wasnt a currency then it would be hard to estimate prices, plus there may be factories that only have demand for selling and they dont want to buy anything so in the end resource trading is not exactly the most efficient way

Maybe some solutions would be found those porblemsโฆ But we might not know them yet, or those alien species could just have the right psychology to function without a monetary system.
Probably. I think I heard that the genetic engineering will get more precise as you progress technologically. So in the society stage youโll be able to selectively breed stuff whilst near the end of the space stage (with sci fi mode on) youโll be able to straight up create new animals.
I donโt know (maybe creatures from 3-5 million years in the past if genetic sequencing and ancient DNA recovery improves)? It shouldnโt preclude Players from recreating animals that look like ancient creatures via genetic modification.
We know that Jiankui He did, but who else is doing it in secret? Not everyone will have the same ethical considerations to stop something like this from happening again.
While not as controversial, Jacques Cohen has been doing mitrochondrial transfer for making three-parent babies since 1996, and there are concerns with it.
