Animation?

So far, the multicellular organisms kind of just glide around but will they move like the macroscopic organisms? Will a long slug-like 20-cell organism slither around?

Quite unlikely. For the same reason we don’t have soft body physics for the cells (in microbe stage).

Could it be possible to instead have the cells be connected by joints on the same basis extracellular matrix is created in game?

a mussel, a snail, a cuttlefish, an octopus.

all 4 are molluscs, common ancestor during ediacran to cambrian.

their movement patterns 1)none, attaches to surface 2)slide, attaches to surface 3)swim with a wavy body 4)swim with limbs

the last 2 also have water jets

chordates were like a sea slug/worm that developed spine, teeth, jaws, and eventually lobe fin.

I feel like this would be for macroscopic-aware. Multicellular is stuff like Algae and Myxozoans.

Back to the discussion, should multicellular introduce more movement options besides what we already have in microbe?

They’re in the awkward place where they have many more cells than Thrive Multicellular Stage, but are not what we typically consider Macroscopic. Though at 0.55mm they’re actually pretty close to what I think our planned minimum size was (1cm).

So they can kind of fit in either, but a few steps into the Macroscopic stage would make them look like something very different.

That was simply discussed as the potential minimum size for a macroscopic organism. I don’t think we’ve gone into deeper depth than that.

Is this going to be the same limit for aware? Since there’s a lot of insects for example that already become impossible with a 1 cm limit and more would eliminate a bunch more of them.

Trying to represent things of vastly different scales is extremely hard in games. So that’s why I think we need to pick the smallest possible macroscopic creature, because that will then have many implications on the maximum size of a creature as well as the world size and world detail.

I think 100 meters could be a good max organism size limit for the evolution stages. Is about as tall as the highest tress go. Unless we want to include the possibility of even higher ones growing on low gravity planets…

Not quite, they don’t have a complex central nervous system like how dogs, cats or even spiders and fish do. Insects can feel pleasure and pain (to a certain degree) whilst tardigrades don’t. Tardigrades also can’t learn from behavior which is what larger more complex animals can do.

They’re slightly above jellyfish but not above an ant.
