This thread is a storage for anything related to Blender, such as 3d models, animations, advice and former attempts at 3d modeling and animating.
Do you happen to have anything to share with us?
Well at the current time nothing.
Do you plan to make something soon though?
Moved from Not Thrive to Other Creativity because this thread is about art made in the software Blender, not the appliance.
Shouldn’t Other Creativity be related to thrive, something this thread doesn’t state/promise itself to be?
I thought Other Creativity was for personal projects in general, they don’t necessarily have to be thrive related as long as you made them yourself and think they’re worth sharing to its audience [1].
Some of the older threads that appears to be the case.
Though that applies to everything on the forums, but Not Thrive is moreso just general discussion. ↩︎
Currently the description of Other Creativity states this:
“For when your love for Thrive has brought something into the world and it doesn’t really fit in other creative subforums, bring it here!”
I suppose it might’ve been updated at some point in the past to include the “love for Thrive has brought something into the world” bit so that the category “needs” to be thrive-related in some way, since otherwise the category could overlap significantly with Not Thrive.
Yeah there is some significant overlap there. Looking at most of the not-thrive category, the vast majority it would stay in its category regardless of whether or not creativity-in-general goes in creativity category because it’s mostly discussion threads about a specific topic. Although it seems The-art-thread is considered not-thrive, inversely the childhood-scientific-misconceptions thread is in other creativity…
I’ll move this thread back to not thrive for now and wait for a mod ruling.
Though other creativity seems rather desolate these days besides the Hycea thread.
So far no one has shared anything they’ve made in blender so at least for now this thread seems pretty much a perfect fit for Not Thrive
I’ve downloaded Blender for the first time.
Will you post updates on your progress with learning the program here?
Do the features differ greatly between versions of Blender? I am not sure which one I should download/use.
I’d guess the newest one is the best one, right?
honestly imo go for a beta/preview release channel. I forget what blender calls it but I was pleasantly suprised testing out the vulkan backend when that was new. I am NOT a modeler or cg artist by any means, so maybe updating to new stuff breaks some people’s workflows, but i’ve never had an issue with the absolutely cutting edge. Then again, I’m an arch user, I’m used to updates to somethign released two hours ago
Betas/Previews could be unstable though…
So Blender requires a Vulkan capable CPU, or can a Vulkan-capable GPU also work?
the vulkan backend is new, relatively speaking, openGL will still work perfectly fine.
also there’s no such thing as a vulkan compatible CPU. unless you mean LLVMpipe, in which case most CPUs can compile LLVM (as in every >386 processor ever and I think all ARM but at least all arm since like v7).
Is opengl support for blender supposed to be phased out eventually?
