I broke a ligament in my right thumb[1] on a piece of steel the other day.
Now wearing a splint.
They still had me go work today and spend all day in an office doing nothing [2] because I’m on ‘light duty’ due to the injury.

Um, q, why so many edits?
Trying not to overshare
So like limiting the amount of information?
I sometimes get pretty bizarre recommendations if I watch a lot of “unhinged” videos
I get weird ads for no reason on YouTube that are not related to the videos I see, which is why I don’t normally use YouTube anymore (unless I use a different front end like FreeTube).
Why is did you get a recommended video in Arabic (or is it Urdu)?
Idk this is the work of the algorithm
2-week update on thumb. No permanent damage, the ligament has reattached itself with no intervention, after much biliverdin in the palm[1].
No more splint.
Still has pain when pulled too far., but is now usable for small objects like cutlery or my phone, official limit is 5 pounds for this week.
Should be back to normal in about 2 weeks.

So are you working with the dominance of one hand now or something?
I’m not sure what you mean? I’m still right handed, just using my left more for the time being.
I’m not off light duty at work until my doctor follows up, until then I’m doing miscellaneous stuff when (if) management asks.
Edit: Anyways, don’t expect to hear more out of this; functioning as normal isn’t notable.
Yeah I was asking about this (as in, if you’re using your other hand more over the other in relation to the norm)
Well, handedness isn’t conscience. It is a unique kind of awful to go for my car keys in my right hand pocket with my right hand, realize I can’t do that, go for my left hand pocket with my left, and then realize I absent mindly put them in my right pocket and have to reach for them with my left. In freezing weather.
I understand completely what you mean; when I fell over winter break, some skin peeled off near the connecting joint of my thumb with the rest of my right hand. While the skin thankfully reannealed, my thumb on my right hand still does not have the same range yet as before.
Hopefully it does return to it’s original range and is not permanently damaged
I hope so, too!

I too hope this thumb injury thing doesn’t become recurring amongst the forum members
