Late last night, I started playing Thrive on Steam for the first time. I’d messed with it before in the independent launcher, but it’s only 5$ and I’ve been following the game for years now so I threw money at it. The launcher from the website has never been downloaded on this computer, only on another one.
Anyway, just before posting this I went to resume my saved game. When I did, I got an error, and the game returned to the main menu.
I restarted the game to the same effect. I can start a new save just fine. I just can’t load any of the old ones, whether the manual save I created or the autosaves.
I was mostly just messing around, so this isn’t really upsetting since I was just trying to figure out how the game functioned and really hated the direction my cell was going (lol), but in the future I might make decent progress and want to keep that save!
Welcome, @Kunabee! From what I have seen on the Steam Page, a 4305 error occurs when making a save while toxins are fired by a cell. It should be fixed with next update coming out (hopefully) on Saturday.
Yes, @AnthropocenianAge got it correct. The saving error is caused by fired toxins in the world.
Extremely conveniently people started reporting this bug one day after the 0.9.0.1 patch… So I’ve already fixed it but as each release takes multiple hours away from development time on new stuff, there hasn’t been a fix released yet. But the good news is that there should be a new Thrive patch on Saturday (I need to finish just a few critical changes) and that will fix saving with fired toxins. And also it should make all the old saves that currently don’t load functional again so you can continue from your save in a few days.
