Choanozoa

Yeah, sanity over realism, right? Anyways, what’s your species? You’ve replied a lot to this, why don’t you sign up?

Alright
My organism will be named “Trichobala Sedecima
It’ll be mostly the same as T. Progenita, but with one large change: The amount of cells has doubled, with now there being 16-32 instead of 8-16 cells.

Alright!

I think your organism looks something like this. If not, let me know!

Yeah, that should be about it.

Alright, good! Now we need just one more player and we can start!

How do you make those species images by the way?

Using Paint.net. I have a base image, and for the microscopic mutations, I just edit it until it matches the description enough.

What will we look like when we reach macroscopic?

At first, I will just draw a ball (that has slight inspiration from your creature before macroscopic-ness) in Paint.net. But then you can mutate into a slightly bigger ball, then a more complex ball, generations and generations later, you have an aware-stage type, albeit pretty simple, organism. It will probably be like Haikouicthys in our timeline.

Nevertheless we need the fabled third player before coming to that point…

Trichobala Zoedidomi will just evolve a small group of cells on the outside which have chitin? idk if this is too radical or too much.

Here’s what you organism looks like:

I changed the color to match your membrane change. And now, we can start! Finally.

Doesn’t a chitinous membrane come with some certain consequences for the functionality of a cell?

Yeah, less movement speed, no engulf, so no predator-building for Cha.

Trichobala Zoefastidious, splitting from Zoedidomi, will have one out of every four cells lose their flagellum and instead have cilia for greater turning speed. This also splits the organism in potentially two different halves for later development.

Flagella won’t stay the primary source of movement for long…

To be fair its not like I plan on using engulfment for the time unless one cell becomes non chitin to be the “mouth”

Over time there’d be demand for more “mouth” cells…

Actually, I’ll let the public decide if that shoulkd be allowed. Because that has never gone wrong! (looks at Boaty mcBoatFace)

Should controlling multiple species be allowed?
  • Yes, more chaos!
  • No, there would be no risk.

I guess that could lift some work off what you’ll need to do in the rounds to come…
