I was using sexual reproduction and upon two gametes reproducing an error message popped up. This was on the small cut scene/transition. I tried to continue but there was no point since another gamete could not be fired. Using the perish button killed the cell but a new cell never spawned. I reloaded an auto save, and this time upon the two gametes meeting there was a crash

Welcome to the forum @That1Guy6456 ! Considering that the autosave does seem to recreate the bug in some way, I think it would be useful if you uploaded it somewhere and then linked it here for the investigators to have easier time fixing this bug, potentially.
And well it is caused by the engine being unable to load any further scenes. Once the bug triggers the only “solution” is to fully close the game, reopen it, and then continue from the latest save.
There is finally some light at the end of the tunnel as Godot Engine 4.8 is slated to receive a partial bugfix to that issue which would hopefully help Thrive players as well.
Unfortunately for the scene load bug our best way to get the issue seems to still be: play Thrive for a few hours and then randomly see the bug.
