Round 2 - Near Disaster
Augalia has always been on the edge of disaster, but life never got this lucky with a disaster. An entire tectonic plate nearly collapsed this week, and if it did, life would surely have been snuffed out within the decade.

Vote: Check upstream I guess
Outcome - 11: Concerned with the drought, but also not wanting to overtax the group, the chieftain sent a rather small group of scouts to search upstream for a food source. They found a most peculiar sight - a short but bulky herbivore lying in the river. When approached, it opened up its maw and scared off the scouts with a loud roar. The lack of anything obviously useful has opened up the discussion once more. With a good portion of the river already dried up, some have suggested to use the information the scouts gathered to help hunt these beasts. Others suggest to look much farther than the scouts have, and many are bickering again. However, one of the scouts proposes a strange idea - why not grow some of the grasses along the river, crush them into a power, add water, and then bake it? Already sounding too complex and absurd, they laugh and ridicule the scout for such a terrible idea. Again, the situation calls for another decision - a more productive one.

Vote: Experiment with curing leather hides via water or some other process. This at least is better than wearing raw hides, and can even be used to make fur clothes to resist the cold better than simply wrapping ourselves in what we can and huddling together.
Outcome - 12: Realizing the severe lack of cold weather clothes, the chieftain orders the tribe to experiment with preserving animal hides. An appropriate animal is found - a small, furry animal with long ears and the tendency to kick when caught - but the experiment with the hides utterly failed and much meat was wasted. Compounded with the ever colder winds and the recent death of many local plants, this has sparked discussion once more, with several advocating to simply hunt the creatures, not collect their hides. Others, recalling the proposed solution a few weeks ago, bring up the topic of making structures again. The discussion gets heated once more, and boils over into a massive fight. The situation now relies completely on the chieftain’s newest decision.

Vote: Expand out of the island
Outcome - 5+10: The chieftain, deciding to go with the will of his tribe, sent several groups of people to colonize the other islands. All of these new settlements were a success, and now your once again has room to grow. However, despite the abundance of new land to live on, there’s still a food shortage. Many members of your tribe recall the man with the insane idea of growing grasses, and suddenly the idea clicks in their heads. However, now people are divided on what they want to grow - grasses similar to the original suggestion, or some local fruits? Regardless of what the town is bickering about now, at least they are calmer now than they were earlier.

Vote: Send scouting parties northward for warmer weather and better food
Outcome - 18: The chieftain, seeing the recent failures the fishers had, decided to send several scouting groups north in search of food. The scouting groups found a peculiar sight - a bundle of several juicy and orange edible fruits on a vine. Many flock northward to try out this fruit, and in general, the tribe’s spirits have been lifted. However, news about their original location is mixed - it’s gotten much colder, but there’s now an abundance of large fish, albeit, hard to catch. Once again, many people bring up the idea of a huge ‘net’ to catch these fish, and now the tribe is divided again, not just in difference of opinion, but now location.

Vote: Start fishing on the coast
Outcome - 16: The chieftain, realizing the futility of chasing the old animals and of trying to hunt the new ones, ordered most of the tribe to harvest the bounty of the sea. It goes swimmingly well, and most of the tribe can once again eat. However, with the winds growing ever colder, the discussion changes topics. Many suggest to try hunting the new animals in order to use their tusks in building a hut and their fur in making clothing, but others still want to follow the old animals before it’s too late. Nonetheless, at least the food situation improved.

Vote: Try to tame these beasts to harvest their meat
Outcome - 7: Instead of enacting revenge on the beasts, the chieftain ordered the tribe to tame the beast and in order to have a herd of loyal animals that could easily be slaughtered for food. Of course, due to how unknown and huge these beasts are, the tribe utterly failed and several were seriously injured. However, despite their failure and previous opinions, the tribe rallied around the failed attempt and now want to continue taming the beasts. It might be a while until the beasts are truly tamed, but everyone won’t let one failure stop them.

Vote: Make the necessary equipment to start fishing on a large scale. It won’t keep us fed forever, but it should prevent a second famine.
Outcome - 20: After much thinking, the king finally made a decision. Instead of trusting the river when it could betray them again, he decided upon the closest body of water - the ocean. Several fishing expeditions were sent out, and they all came back with a giant bounty. The food shortage was finally gone - all they had to do was look outwards at the sea! One of the fishermen who was sent out returned with a bounty much less aquatic - a plant with white tufts of hair growing along the coast. Many wondered why the fisherman even brought it with him, and most still doubted the significance of the plant even after the fisher explained what it did. Another fisherman searching in the opposite direction found a much more practical item - a grasslike plant that can easily be transformed into usable items. With all the new directions opened up by the stabilization of the civilization, the only thing needed now is the official go ahead.
