Democratic Worldbuilding / Planning New Game

Time for biological stuff!

Microscopic autotrophs, they’ll have two colors but how? (Macroscopic autotrophs options are dependant on the result of this vote)

  • two clades, one goes dormant during it’s off season, or retreats to sanctuaries
  • one clade, switches which organelles it grows with the luminosity
  • one clade, only one organelle type but not necessarily the same as it’s parent(s) so it switches generationally

And animals, those kinda gotta exist. How many phylums? (On earth I’d say it’s arthropoda, vertebrates, molluscs, radially symmetric things (jellyfish), and weird things (80% of which are worms))

number of bilateral and motile clades (3-4 on earth)

We can assume at least one radially symmetrical and one asymmetrical. If people show interest in radial symmetry we’ll detail those guys.

I have to correct u:
Worms are not phylum.
They are body plan that take atlist one 4 difrrent group (learn in marin ecology last week)

You are 100% correct, I am, however, ignoring a lot because there are tons of phylums, I was dumping all the weird small phylums in one “major phylum” (it’s a lie) and noted they were 80% worms because thays a common body plan across phylums. I don’t want to detail every phylum, only the big, interesting ones.

How u going to manage the phylums?
Its foingnto be an earth like or we fot the free will on that?

This is an Earth-like planet, so yeah, simplified Earth-like design. Will have votes for non-lawk features if they make sense and aren’t cracked (and I think of them). Alternate biochemestry is mostly off the table, but like, alternate chirality is barely noticable so maybe they have that, it’s irrelevant.

I see.
Soo we bacly vote on the basic feature of the phylum- like for Mollusca its Redula and Gladius and for the vertebrae its the Verdibraite and not end anus tail muscle and ect.
We can fo crazy on that and its good think.

But we will see

We, if need anything, i can help in info
I litterly study that

oh yeah you probably know more than me, if you have any advice or an idea I might not have though of, totally tell me:>

Sure! Can help of needed for boiling ideas
First, lest see what we have cooks in tej polls

like in summer tide polls becoming unsafe ?

I think its worst becuse not just bwcume unsave, its backy if its boil, the salt reamin, make its salty.
In the summer, becuse its see like the ocean its deeper the erath, they can esacly to the underwater cave/blue holes/ deep.water.
Becuse the water have a very high energy capacity (4.2 joules for 1 gram or 1 calory), its will take time, longer then its possible to boil all the ocean. Its will make some werid stralbelgium to survivle.

That just my viewpoints on that

HUH yeah, well summer isn’t too long so it sounds totally okay, but it could lead to many seasonally salty bodies of water. The salton sea is an example of what it would be like i think.

So that means that during summer the majority of the planet will essentially become one giant rainforest and during the winter a tundra.

Well, I guess that the polar areas will be tundra/ice fields all the times

They’ll become flash floods for weeks on end I’d assume. Yeah there would likely be ice left year round, but the depth would vary a lot.

belgium i missed it, ah well you snooze you loose

For myself it makes a semi sense of two seperate colours become dominant due to the extreme variation the interesting scenario however is who ends up the dominant land plant, cause example say the, Purple-ish plants become large and basically block a good chunk of the sunlight, while black yes would get sun still it would be more beneficial for example to surrender that tree clade to purple in exchange to grow on them and get as much energy as possible while expending zero energy to grow example bark to not be eaten, and some even spawning during winter and await summer so they don’t compete during development during the harsh climate while the Purple might purely grow during the hot season.

This is just an example and simply what I’ve had on my mind, and in no way in an attempt to dictate what should happen or not happen, this is a democracy after all

yeah parasitic/communal options will be on the macroscopic poll

So! Two clades of purple and black, the trade dominance every season.

Polls can just be now, 7 votes seems to be enough.

  • One dominant land plant that hosts microbes of the opposite sort in the off season
  • One dominant land plant that host whichever microbe matches the season (like biblaridian’s series, doesn’t itself photosynthesize)
  • Two dominant land plants, life cycles optimize for their season

We’ll do votes on if it’s parasitic or what, and which one is the host, after.

Four bilateral interesting clades!

We’ll call them phylum A, B, C and D.

A will be segmented, and D will lack a through gut because that sounds interesting. Segmentation is common on earth, so one other should be segmented I’d say. (segmented meaning it can currently easily add and remove segments.)

  • B is also segmented
  • C is also segmented
  • D is also segmented

Additionally, Phyla on earth have different numbers of eyes, I think vertebrates have two or three, and arthropods have 5, (that’s default, many species of both have in practice reduced to two), while cyclops have one and mollusks don’t have an easy to count number, and vary wildly. I’d say two should have a default amount, others will start with either zero or large numbers of eyespots and can develop lots of ways like mollusks have on earth. After you pick the two numbers we’ll assign them to two of the phyla.

Tell me more things that distinguish phyla! Something I can think of is hard structures, like vertebrae, radula, gladius, you know, stuff doomlightning mentioned. After we differentiate all of them we’ll assign our species to one, and name them all bc A, B, C, and D are silly names.

Is segmented internal and external or one or the other?

also side note is there meant to be two more for C and D or which letters are 1 and 2 for

Internal and external.
one and two don’t have letters yet. We will attach them to letters in the next vote. Like, if you want there to be spider-y people, you can vote eight in one of them, and you want normal people so you vote two in the other, then when your vote wins because you’re so cool, you assign the 8 to the most spider-y clade and the two to whichever.

and what about the two extra letters? cause we be missing two with that

yep! try to define the number of default eyes for mollusks. Some have hundreds, some zero, and the fun ones have two. There’s no clade-wide pattern. Some phyla don’t have a normal default.
