When is 0.8.2.1 planned to release?
We’ll answer that and more during the Thrivestream that is starting in 24 minutes.
Well hopefully no major bugs will make it through 0.8.2.1 that a 0.8.2.2 would be needed…
It seems that the website is no longer sending the full content via RSS.
Another three months have passed, and another Thrive release has arrived - Thrive 0.8.2 is now available for download!
The headliners for this update include currents, bioluminescence, additional environmental events, a tutorial revamp, and more. Less experienced players can rely on a more comprehensive tutorial to breakdown how to mak…

It’s been an issue since the major website update I believe.
Is that necessary? I suppose maybe it is for some RSS users…
I might be using the feed generation C# library a bit incorrectly. I can probably change things around so that the primary “content” is generated from the full text and a Summary is then the short preview (which I just checked and that seems to exist in the feed library). I can make that change assuming it is correctly picked up by Thrive and our other feed processing scripts.
Edit: I just realized that this will increase our bandwidth usage quite a lot if there’s some number of RSS pollers. So I’m not sure I want to make the change if there aren’t people who really need this and can’t just read the full post in their browser when the RSS feed notifies a new item is available.
How is the RSS feed intended to be used?
I went with a mixed approach. Now the feed will have the full content of the latest post in it. So right now the feed will give full content for devblog 47, though when viewing it outside our website missing CSS styles and JS will make the page not work exactly like it should (for example youtube embeds only have a working link to the youtube video). This should hopefully work fine with RSS readers caching the content once they see it once so that the content disappearing / changing once a post is no longer the latest hopefully doesn’t cause any issues.
By the way, is there a chance 0.8.3 will be renamed 0.9.0 or is the planet generator still too incomplete for it to have any shots at being added in that release?
I have personally seen like 0 progress recently on a planet generator. It would be like completely out of the left field to need to rename 0.8.3.
Hopefully we don’t get into a situation where all roadmap items but the planet generator (and the items needing the generator to function properly) are complete. If that happened, would the generator simply get delayed beyond 1.0.0?
