Escaping from predation

What would determine if a predatory organisim is able to see you or not? There may be many factors for this including the percentage of your organisim covered by foliage and how naturally camouflaged you are with the environment around you or how much of a scent your species is giving off to the predator. And how would one actually escape from predatory organisims if they have spotted you and have started a strategised attack to ultimately bring your creature into it’s digestive tract? What would the factors be to actually escape predation?

Edit: this topic can also apply to the multicellular stage.

i like it. and how would the predators senses factor in? or alertness?

Maybe like in Spore, where hostile creatures would begin to notice your presence the closer you are, like distance, sense, field of vision, hearing.
