List of Major Species and Groups
Climate
Average Temperature: 28°C/82.4°F
Biodiversity: 7
The planet is currently split into 2 continents separated by a sea. There are no big rivers but there is a large super-ocean for life to evolve in, however this ocean does not have enough nutrients for hard shells to form. Not much is going on on the continents…
Events
Biodiversity has begun to recover after the great extinction. The foundational five groups (and a sixth group that died off real fast) that will be the main drivers of evolutionary history have diverged, and are heading towards their respective future niches. Food is currently plentiful and the ocean is ripe for a biodiversity explosion. Several major mutations have occurred which will define the near and possibly far future. There are currently no species that eat plants, and no predators to eat those species, so overpopulation could eventually become a huge issue.
Species
@JustaDumbThriver
Primovermis Finis - EX(0)
This species was yet another victim of bad luck. It managed to evolve a decent tail fin, however it’s muscles became practically non existent, so it was useless. It’s photoreceptors, one of the first of its kind, fed false information to the creature, which misled it away from food. Vastly outcompeted by more successful species (such as Doomicus Primium), it went extinct as but a footnote in evolutionary history.
Size: 1.2 cm
Biome: Deep Ocean Floor (Coniunctus Ocean)
Mutations
Tail fin - 5
Photoreceptors - 2
True Muscles - 1
@AnthropocenianAge
Loco Primium - NT(5)
This species is one of the most successful species of its time. Its muscles are very well optimized and are capable of doing more than most muscles can at the same energy cost. It also has a notochord, the first of its kind, which, combined with the great muscles, can go much faster along the ocean floor than most of its competitors. The only reason this species is not the sole hegemon of the ocean is because it lost it’s anus and all waste now has to go through the mouth with everything else, contaminating some food and decreasing digestive capability.
Size: 1.3 cm
Biome: Deep Ocean Floor (Coniunctus Ocean)
Mutations
One way digestive system: 1
True muscles: 6
Notochord: 3
@aah31415
Lago Primium - LC(6)
This species has evolved very well optimized muscles, which allows it to move a bit faster than most other species, and is also the first species to evolve pigmentation. This allows it to survive in the shallow sea floor of the Centrum Sea, where it has zero competition. This species also thrives in the deep as well due to its great muscles.
Size: 1.2 cm
Biome: Ocean Floor
Mutations
True muscles: 6(5+1)
Better muscles: +1 to True muscles
Melanin: 4(3+1)
@doomlightning
Doomicus Primium - LC(6)
This species has somehow not only evolved true muscles, but has also made them superhumanly strong with very low energy consumption! This allows members of this species to move quite fast and get a bit larger. This species has also evolved epithelial folds that allow it to have a very decent surplus of energy, which could be used farther down the line. This species has also evolved a tiny hollow central germ layer like Mesoderm near the mouth area, where water passes, allowing water and oxygen to get closer to the cells without having to penetrate through the skin. This species almost singlehandedly caused Primovermis Finis to go extinct.
Size: 1.6 cm
Biome: Deep Ocean Floor (Coniunctus Ocean)
Mutations
3(2+1)
3(2+1)
9(6+3)(You get an extra mutation next round with a bonus of +2!)
@UndyingHazard
Olfactus Primium - NT(5)
This species has managed to secure itself a place among the major species by evolving the very first one way digestive system. They managed to do this by adding an intestinal tract, which also allows the species to absorb more nutrients, and works very well. This species has also evolved chemosensory cells on the head to help detect food, but they often either don’t work or mislead the creatures. This does not matter that much however, as the species has also evolves some hair like structures around the mouth to catch more microbes anyways.
Size: 1.3 cm
Biome: Deep Ocean Floor (Coniunctus Ocean)
Mutations
Chemosensory cells - 1
Mouth cilia - 4
Intestinal tract - 6
@Cha
Testudopodia Primium - EN(3)
This species has evolved the first successful photoreceptors, which allow it to detect light and find food better. It has also had a small reduction in the presence of nerves, which means that it cannot fully use its new mutation. It currently has a mild risk of extinction due to its competition.
Size: 1.2 cm
Biome: Deep Ocean Floor (Coniunctus Ocean)
Mutations
Photoreceptors - 4(3+1)
Chitin plates - -3(3-6)
Better nervous system - 2
Notes: A lot of people did not realize that you were supposed to change your genus, so I swapped the species name and genus name around so that everybody is no longer in the same group, which is very important. Also @doomlightning you never gave me a name for your species so I made one up. Also you can submit four mutation for round 2.
