Ancenstor: Sea Grass
Name: Sea Asteroid Grass
Mutations: The roots are modified, allowing them to grapple to rocks and absorb nutrients trought the water, the seeds become lighter allowing them to be carried further, the leafs are longer.
Habitat: Water Clumps
Description: Sea grass that evolved to better survive in their enviroment.

Ancenstor: Sea Asteroid Grass
Name: Clump Grass
Mutations: Stronger roots so that they are more difficultous to be eaten, roots now grow in a spherical pattern.
Habitat: Water Clumps
Description: Sea grass that evolved to be able to grow without being attached to an asteroid simply absorbing nutrients throught the water, it clumps togheter forming a sorf of grass asteroid.

Ancenstor: Blue Ringed Octopi
Name: Magna Octopus
Mutations: bigger body size, less poison. Thicker beak, they don’t die after reproducing anymore, omnivorous.
Size: 1 m
Habitat: Water Clumps
Description: Octopi that became bigger and less poisonous because of the temporary absence of predators, they also became omnivores because of the decrease in preys.
Diet: Omnivore

Ancestor: Fishing cats

Name: Swimming Cats

Description: Adapted webbed feet and more powerful legs for swimming, they also adapted longer claws for climbing on asteroids.

Ancestor: Snatching cats

Name: Jumping cats

Description: Developed stronger legs and aposeable thumbs for better jumping and climbing, they also adapted to be larger over all, and slightly more intelligent so they can better calculate jumps to get food. They have also developed to be more social, fights usually get people killed and cause them to float off asteroids, causing the species to become more cooperative with itself.

I’ll update this list as more creatures are made. This displays the available slots for creatures.

Ancestor: Vampire bats

Name: Sky Leeches
Description: Evolved more symmetrical wings, and start to flap them front to back instead of up and down, they also developed more forward facing mouths, to latch onto prey easier.

Ancestor: Red-Eyed Tree Frogs

Name: Red-Eyed Dart Frogs
Description: Developed longer tongues and a larger body to hold them, Zip from asteroid to asteroid using their tongues to pull themselves toward bugs and vice versa, they also use their tongues to propel themselves by latching onto rocks and asteroids and detaching from them in quick succession, usually building up great speed.

Ancestor: Red-Eyed Tree Frogs
Name: Razorgrazers
Description: Large, almost Bison sized frogs that have long barbed tongues, and have adapted to the asteroid fields wonky gravity by using their sticky toe pads to stick to the asteroids as if they are normal ground. They use their large, barbed tongues to strip the needles off of cypress trees, needlebridges, and black-leafed stickbridges, as well as rip up the nutrient dense rhizomes of rootmoss and eat them.

Ancestor: Razorgrazers
Name: Awakens
Description: A mutation occurs in a Razorgrazer, and it’s intelligence rises signifigantly, though not yet fully self-aware, the awakens show evidence of planning and a slight degree of self recognition(it recognizes its own scent). It is omnivorous as a result of a random mutation that fared well, spreading and leading to a different species.
Diet: Mainly plants, but also eats insects

Ancestor: Jumping cats

Name: Felitites (Standing Cats)

Description:

Developed a more upright standing posture, increased size, front legs beginning to develop more into arms, intelligence in large groups increasing, tend to hang out in semi large groups like tribes, have learned to use simple tools, like sticks and rocks, nothing as complex as stone tools or fire though. Increase in brain size believed to be a result of “monkey politics”. Hunt by grabbing food from the air around them and surrounding larger creatures and ripping them to pieces with their claws, they seem to share food.

why standing? There is no gravity, there is no difference between standing upright and not standing upright.

Standing helps catch red eyed dart frogs and other flying creatures.

What insects does it eat? Also I really don’t like your sudden jumps to attempt sapience. Imo sapience won’t arise until at least the first extinction, but likely it will take longer

Ancenstor: Great Horned Owls
Name: Great Cathunter Owl
Mutations: Significantly bigger because of the size of the prey it hunts. Larger proportional wing span allowing it to move more air when flapping and gather more speed, but are adapted for higher flight controll. Bigger proportional talons allowing it to catch bigger prey, wide and long beak allowing it to impale the bodies of their prey and killing them and a more flexible spine allowing them to reach their preys when they are in their talons.

Habitat: Asteroids

Description: Owls that adapted to hunting what they found, they use their greater manuaviblity to overmanuever their prey and catch it.

Diet: Membranous Rabbit, Snatching Cats, Jumping Cats, Red-Eyed Dart Frogs, Felitites

Imma hold off on evolving the cats until we get more in other categories.

Gonna tell you the same thing I told TheForumGameMaster

I don’t think it is realistic to have a sapient or almost sapient creature before the first extinction

Also, upright standing would require different hip structure (even with zero gravity the structure would be awkward to walk), standing is unecessary when they can jump, and what is their pressure to form groups/become smarter, let alone use tools?

I’m going to make a big species drop tommorow

So @TheForumGameMaster and @Centarian I will not be counting the Awakens and the Felitites, just to make you aware

I was saying that it developed the ability to stand upright, to catch other creatures.

And while this could be semi realistic, It would require a complete rearrangement of the hip structure so that they could walk, even in low gravity, requiring at least one more intermediate step, and they could just jump for prey

Also, no pressure for traveling in groups - the opposite in fact, prior to the evolution of the Great Cathunter Owl, which your idea was - as well as no adaptations for picking things up or tool usage at all, as well as no apparent reason for them to start using tools

Fair, I understand the object manipulation, though jumping for prey could be fatal, or get you stranded on a different asteroid if your not careful.

Can I just make it a teeny tiny bit smarter, such as better memory or something like that

You can give it the ability to have a more powerful memory, but you would need a reason for this evolution in the immediate time frame, and preferably a more drastic evolution on the side that could be considered this creatures main evolutionary step

Ex: primates can now better grab branches and sticks to swing from trees, and now rarely leave the trees so that they expose themselves to less danger
