That would probably require the player species to spend a while in the industrial stage, as in centuries of time. I’d say this would most likely require the player to purposefully stay in the industrial stage for longer for their planet to become uninhabitable, assuming there is enough resources to do it.

Human’s are destroying earth. If Thrive is not finished, it will most likely be because humans will extinct ourselves or crash our society back to the dark ages due to environmental destruction. No matter how dedicated the developers are, they need to still have a habitable world with digital computers a functional electrical grid to work on the game.

I don’t know about where you live, but where I live, greedy corrupt politicians care more about how much money they can make this year then what the economy or world will look like 100 years from now.
