How will LAWK impact later stages?

Iโ€™ve been wondering how would LAWK impact later stages. Should there be an additional HAWK (History as we know it) setting also?

What would non-hawk events even be? Types of governments never seen in human history?

I was thinking about technologies and retro-societies that never happened like steampunk, dieselpunk, atom punk. These societies would have a different tech tree than what we had to go through in history.

The question is if these society types wouldnโ€™t just end up returning to a more standard civilization typeโ€ฆ

I guess there still is the field open with LAWK interactions with later stages.
Would you be able to become sapient if you were a fully thermosynthetic critter on a hot planet?

Thermosynthetic is non-LAWK. But why wouldnโ€™t you? Is it that inefficient? Then again, photosynthesis is suppose to be to inefficient, so if thermosynthesis is comparable, maybe not. Should be easier to mix with predator though.

Well, plants are said to have not evolved brains since it wouldnโ€™t be useful for their lifestyles. Similarly, a fully thermosynthetic critter wouldnโ€™t need all that much brain tissue to move from warm to cold and back, assuming thermosynthesis works the same in macroscopic stages.

Unless you consider the whole plant as a brain, which is an idea some plant scientists think and are attempting to study.

But back to the subject of the thread,

Would an Iron-eating organism need a brain, either, since it just needs to find iron chunks and iron clouds? The player can obvious make it, but would it evolve naturally?

I mean, theyโ€™d eventually need to move to a new chunk in some way for the vein theyโ€™re feeding off will cease to exist one day.

the best way to do it once youโ€™re macroscopic would actually be to be so large you stretch from hot to cold. If that isnโ€™t possible then yep, it would likely work that way.

And if not, then youโ€™d have to move between the hot and the cold in an animal-like manner, correct?
